So I figured I'd use one of my favorite renders of the chief for the front but without using the seemingly overused promo image, cool though it may be. Looking forward to crit/comments.
Credits: sneakybaron for the render of Cortana, shipmaster117 from the Halo wiki for the background image (slightly edited), and the rest of the renders are from planetrenders. Screenshots were taken directly from Bungie's official archive.
Halo 3 Box Cover Comments
Comment on UmbraPhasmatis's Halo 3 Box Art / Cover.
Quick note: the lack of game feature captions is mainly an artistic preference. If I added them it would make the screenshot area a little cluttered, and I'm not a fan of images that are *too* busy.

I like it alot. Feels very neat. That pic of Cortana on the cover gives me the creeps for some reason though. Anyway, nice job!

@DemonLord555 If you don't mind my asking, how so? I can always work on it. I wanted something there other than just the Chief and Cortana seemed to fit the bill. :T

I'm not sure, to tell the truth. I guess it's just that particular picture of Cortana feels just enough "off" to me that I notice it. Totally up to you, but if it were my box I'd probably try different Cortana pictures or maybe go for some cool effect to put there instead.

I like the back, it's very neat. Maybe the text is too big, but it's very nice.
But I don't like the front too much. The main character is too blue IMO, the logo doesn't stick out enough and Cortana looks a bit strange there. I don't think a Cortana background like this is the way to go for a Halo 3 boxart.
The front needs more "wow" effect. More lighting, more focus.
Nevertheless all in all a very nice and neat box. It's good work!

As I already pre-ordered Halo 4, I probably will. As it happens, though, I don't usually make cover art unless there is an at least decent amount of information, which unfortunately there isn't. So expect one as Halo 4's release draws near.

for everyone's info I updated the artwork on the cover. It's a little different to be considered an update so I'll submit it tomorrow or something when I get the chance. I think everyone will like it.
