#3, I'm not talking about the template, simpleton. I'm talking about the entire front that occupies the template, which you stole from a Zelda Reorchestrated, a fan site that created orchestral versions of the Zelda soundtracks.

"Your" front is actually theirs. Thief.

I lol'd at the "Mature" rating. :P

The picture on the bottom left is a bit crushed and I would have picked a different font for the text on the back.

But I'll still give it a 3/5. :)

#6, It takes absolutely no effort to remove the logo from the original. You stole the front and essentially did nothing to make it your own.

And the back sucks for obvious reasons.

And stop capitalizing every single word.

#10, i'm Capitaling Every Single Word Bc I'm Like That Way, I Try To Not Capitalizing. Oh Well...
The Logo On Bottom Front Had To Be Removed For Diffrent Look, So It's Better Picture, Better Front.
And Second, I Did The Best I Could With The Back, I Just Did't Have Enough Zelda Pictures I Once Had. Because This is My Mother's New Computer. The Old One Crashed, Died, So All Stuff Were Not Saved On CD, Because I Did't Have CDs Back In Day. Don't Fault Me Or Blaming Me For Not Having My Stuff I Would Put Up On That Template. >.<

#11, Thank You, You're Being Nice.

#11, He didn't credit his source even though he knows that he didn't do enough work to call it his own. And I'm pretty sure he's 8 years old or something because he didn't catch Phoenix's sarcasm and he's barely literate.

#13, Grand aren't you being a bit of a hypocrite? What about your Half-Life box you did for the NES? You used a lot of that person's work without doing a whole lot to it yourself and did not credit them. Same difference, right?

I agree that its not cool at all to do, but when you've done it yourself you hardly have the right to call someone else out on it much less be a total dick about it.

#14, There's a difference. I actually made that Half-Life box from scratch. True, I based the two characters on it off an existing design for the pixel art but there's only so many ways that an 8-bit Gordon Freeman can be made. I also didn't know 100% who made the original design because I saw 3 stands at Magfest selling the exact same Gordon Freeman sprite and I assumed it was just created by a nameless fan somewhere on the Internet.

I resent you saying that I didn't do "a whole lot to it myself" when I started with a blank canvas, made those sprites pixel-by-pixel, built the template from the ground up, doctored screenshots pixel-by-pixel, customized fonts, wrote descriptions, and 3D-ified it.

This, on the other hand, is a clear cut case of taking this image:

And intentionally removing the logo and posting it as his own work. He said he removed the logo which means he saw and read the logo which clearly indicates who made it.

Inspiration from other sources is fine, so if the box maker had taken a Link riding Epona render and made it into a silhouette on the horizon, that would've been much better. But he literally copied & pasted it and blacked out the logo.

And the back is pretty awful. Stretched (and unmodified) images, default fonts, horribly placed text, horribly written text, etc.

(It's also worth mentioning that I'm friends with one of the people who helped out with Zelda Reorchestrated, which is why I reacted so strongly.)

#15, I'm 21 Years Old, Deaf Person,(Born A Deaf) So It's Hard To Know Diffrence From Sarcasm Or "Other".
That Logo "ZREO" Was Removed For This Look, So I Like That Look Without It. But I Will Throughly Research The Authors Who Made Template Or Other ETC, And I WILL CREDIT Them First. By The Way, I Still Have Original Picture... So That Front Is Diffrent. I Could Just Put It On Music Cover? You Decide.

#16, I just think that copying and pasting it without really doing anything to it shouldn't be done.

Okay your first mistake here is that it's not that good, but it's a first, some members come here and make a first box which is absolutely brilliant, others come here and don't shine until later.

You need to work more on your boxes, Help, Tips and Tutorials should help you, i only used it once, for rendering, but go there and get some help.

Also a little tip when putting text on your boxes:

After typing out text, use "Filters" then "Light and Shadow", then "Drop shadow", set the preferrences to 0,0, then 100% the blur radius and it will outline your text with a shadow, that way it makes it easier to read.

If you're using Gimp, then you will be able to do it with no problem.

Also, check out some of the HoF and Masterworks boxes, they are the best submitted here and are sure to help you make something that people will fav instead of not like.

Hope that helped and good luck with future boxes.

P.S. Sites that help with making boxes.

CreativeUncut, has a ton of treasured wallpapers, renders, logos, etc.

Planetrenders, the best place on the web to find .png renders (no background) for your boxes.
(Needs account, it's free)

They are the two main ones i use, go there and you're on your way.

#15, Whatever the case, Grand, people on here are constantly grabbing a wallpaper off the net, slapping a template on it, and calling it a boxart. Almost everyone is barrowing art from somewhere else and rearranging it to call it their own. So he didn't do enough to earn any originality awards, but I don't think its fair to call him out as a thief!

I just think you went about this the wrong way. If anything you should have commented on how unoriginal it was along with all the other things that are obviously not very good about this box, but you shouldn't just call him a thief.

What if I called you a thief for you Legend of Zelda box that looks exactly like the mock up movie poster? Its very unoriginal since you pretty much barrowed the entire design, but I'm not going to say you stole it. Nor would I call you a simpleton. That wouldn't be very nice now would it?

#19, Calling People By That, Actually Does Hurt The Feelngs Of Person, It Demoralizes This Person. That's How I Felt When He Called Me A Thief Or Simpleton.
But I'll Be Fine and Toughen Up When You're Being Attacked Directly. At Least I Did't Left VGA.. Otherwise People here would be like HIM

Up Next Is New Box, i already posted the images on Forums First. I Remembered to put the things like boxes to be viewed here before actual release on VGA.

#19, Yes and the practice of slapping unmodified artwork/wallpapers on templates is frowned upon here.

Just ripping off an official wallpaper? That's not as bad because the companies put out these resources for fan consumption. But taking a fan-made wallpaper is different. And it wasn't even a fanmade wallpaper but actual cover art for a fanmade music album.

I don't care if your box looks almost exactly like something else as long as you put the work into it. There's a difference between being inspired by something else/borrowing design principles from something else and actually clicking Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V.

And I called him a simpleton because he thought I was talking about him not crediting the template even though it was abundantly clear I was talking about what was actually on the box.

#22, That's Little Mean.. YOU Did't Made A Very Clear Point About The Front When You Said I Was Thief, Which I Was Not. I Was Just Putting It On And See What's The Reaction.. I Look At The Boxes And They're Cool Much As It Is... With Their Reactions, I Might Have To Seriously Put My Hands In Dirty Work To Modifying The Boxes.. Making Them More Better Until I Deemed Them Best To Be Submitted.. Then At Least You Might Not Hating On Poor First Timer Maker of This Box...<.<
