This is something I've wanted to do for quite awhile, and Mr. Karma's recent competition seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally kick it in gear. :)
I drew this box design completely by hand, template, texts, everything, with pencils on a sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper. The other tools I used are a ruler and a few of those paper smudgers. Needless to say I nearly went blind doing quite a few of the smaller areas, and although I finished this last evening, my hand still cramps like you wouldn't believe. As always though, the pain is part of the process I guess, and it was definitely worth it. :)
Thanks in advance guys for your favs and comments, and best of luck to evreyone in the competition!
I had hopes of actually winning this contest.
Now I laugh at those hopes as they are thrown into a deep, deep, abyss where they shall never return.

Thanks so much guys! I used to do boxarts way back when in the day like this before we had such technological advancements like photoshop. It was very cool to hark back to those days of old.
I'm glad you guys like it, and I'll definitely be doing one of these again sometime. :)
Thanks for the Masterworks guys! :)
#25 I was thinking of doing that actually. I got some quality colored pencils last Christmas I've yet to use. :) I'll be adding an additional colored version in the near future.
OH MY GOD! THE BEST BOX IV'E EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! YOU RULE. PROBABLY THE BEST ARTWORK IV'E EVER SEEN TOO! YOUR TOTALLY AWESOME MAN! AND YOU MAKE GREAT BOXES!
Damn fine job, Drax. It's so nice to see someone do a hand-drawn box done with rulers. You'd think people would tire of creating what seems to be the crayon doodles of a child. We're a community of amature graphic designers for God's sake!
I'm favoriting this on the count of it actually accomplishing something that the community as a whole is either afraid or incapable of doing. Beautiful work, as usual.
OMG I just jizzed my pants...Wow that is truly a work of art. You are my favorite author and just want to thank you for the work you do on this site. Kudos to you Drakxxx
This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one of the most incredible boxes on the site. The attention to detail is just absolutely incredible, I cannot stop marveling at this amazing work.
