Comment on MF29's Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Next Generation Box Art / Cover.
I actually spent hours in front of the computer screen to the point to where my buttocks didn't have feeling any longer. I had to take breaks on and off. From the look of it, it just looks like a plastered renders on a background but it took me hours to compile all of those renders, re-size them, organizing them, and on top of that creating the logo. The back took forever to execute correctly, yet I still have a problem with it because of the text I used.
It's also obvious that the renders on the front and the back conflict with each other because they aren't consistent. I didn't think that it mattered much because not all renders have been drawn in 2D, or vice versa. I wanted to find the most popular Capcom characters and put them on the cover.
I'm open to criticism and suggestions.

I'm sorry, but it's just a lot of renders... And I hate the back.

This game needs to be made either way. It would be the number one online game out there. Great work! Just one thing. Less can be sometimes more. Take a look at MVC2's cover. But what you have here works, but X and Zero at the bottom seem cut off. I think you should make both sides seem to come at each other, like they did in the past. But that's just my opinion. The clash motif just works with VS games.

I love the front. i like how it's clustered, the back just seems too clustered even though it's less clustered...if that makes any sense.

I appreciate all of the comments.
#7, I know exactly what you're talking about. When I was looking at the Marvel Vs. Capcom boxes and, the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom box, I noticed that there aren't that many renders on the front and back, and they are much larger than the ones I used in my box. I think the main reason why I have so many small renders, is because I wished to scrape every character from the bottom of the barrel, whether they are completely obscure or popular.
I thought I'd just put more characters on the front because it's a PS3 game, and I wanted to let people know that the game has a ton of different characters to choose from. Also, with the template I used being ultra high-res, the renders would've looked low quality if I would've enlarged them anymore.
Thanks mates.

This is awesome MF29, I love the front and back. I really need this game to come out.
Story Time: The other day I was at GameStop and the dude who worked there kept trying to sell me a used copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which is $80. I kept saying no, for I didn't have that much on me (If I did I would have bought it in a heart-beat), but he just kept asking me. It was rather funny actually.

My advice, take off the pile of 2D renders on the back, and take a few fairly important characters (ones that were not featured on the front) and put large renders of them there instead. (kinda faded into the background just a little)
other than that, I love it!

This is great. I really love this game series and I hope they can make a third one. Stupid copyrights.

I think it just looks good because the characters cover up all of the box, but hell it looks good.

Looks great, i hate the more realistic art of the characters on the top left of the front but w/e.
Also, someone needs to change that "trophios" typo sine a bunch you you guys are using that temp.

I like this a lot. I get what #7 mentioned, but I quite like the collage look of it as it is. I kinda don't like how big Leon is compared to many of the others (on the front) but that's my sole complaint.

This is great!

I guess Wolverine, Venom, and Silver Surfer(?) is also a little too big.

Honestly, there are so many clashing art styles on the front it's ridicules, not to mention varying sizes in the renders. The idea is not bad, but you should have tried to blend everyone together better.
The back looks a lot better, since everything flows nicer, but your screen shots aren't a good idea. Not one of the four shots look like they are from the same game(because they are not).
Another thing to be honest, I think most people are faving this(and some other boxes like this) just for the jumble of characters on it.
Overall, your layout and composition for the box is good, just your choice to use clashing artwork ruins it for me.

#20, thanks for your comment, I find it very interesting.
I was planning on completely excluding screenshots altogether, because of the clashing art styles. I took some screenshots from games that included all characters, and I knew in my right mind that no screenshot included both a Marvel and Capcom character fighting against each other in 3D. That makes me think I probably should have put the game on an earlier platform, so I would be able to use screenshots only in 2D.
My initial plan with the box art was to only use 3D renders. But because not every character that I wished to include in the box didn't have any 3D iterations, I used both. I guess my technique with the fighting game boxes are all too similar.
I do the render collage style because I find it difficult to make the box in any other way. I am inept when it comes to creating my own backgrounds, with a distinctive cover and back.

#6, you know what? I'm tired of this. You're criticizing great boxes harshly with no good constructive criticism, but you don't have any boxes even close to as good as this.

I don't think I could say that Pan hasn't already. The images are all different sizes and styles, and the screenshots on the background are very inconsistent. That said, the box does have its merits. You've done a good job with text, the logo, and the overall concept. If you had managed to find a way to modify the various images so that they were closer together in style (All 2D art rather than some 3D characters, etc.) then this would be pretty amazing.

I was pretty surprised when I found out that no one on this website had made a Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 box before. With that said I think that my idea was somewhat slightly clever.
