Comment on Drakxxx's Grand Asylum: The Chronicles of Cthulhu Box Art / Cover.
Well, I unfortunately have a lot to say about this one, hehe.
This is an almost totally custom box for a 2D beat em' up game idea
based off the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. If theres any Lovecraft fans on the site,
I'm sure you'll get a kick out of the concept. Thanks and credit to Sens for the wonderful template.
I don't mind if you want to skip the following details regarding this box's conception, feel free
to just full view the piece, and comment / fav as you see fit :)
But anyways, various concept sketches, and unfinished elements of this concept/box
have been lying around on my CPU hardrive for about a year now, and I didn't really think I
would ever finish the piece. It wasn't till recently when i started actively checking out and contributing to VGBoxArt again, that the motivation and enthusiasm necessary to complete this monster project came back to me. So for that guys, I really thank you. I think the box came out great, and the possibility of sharing it with you here is what really got me going again, and once I resumed work on this box, I couldn't stop!
So right, this week, after I finally decided to complete this sucker, I spent close to around 20 hours finishing artwork, adding color, and doing photoshop work to finally finish what you see here. Not that I expect it to earn me any extra points, but absolutely all the character renders are original pencil sketches I created individually, scanned, and colorized in photoshop. I then assembled the images as they're seen the same way I would with pre-existing renders. The mock gameplay screenshots on the back are also hand drawn, colored and pieced together. The tentacle effects predominant throughout the design were done by hand, with a Wacom tablet, and the process cramped my darn wrist bad
on several occasions. I'm personally astonished at the amount of work and creative energy I was able to devote to this, and once again, I really have to thank all you guys collectively for the motivation to do it.
I'm going to wrap things up now, I promise :)
Needless to say, your comments will be very appreciated on this work, as I'm extremely proud of this piece.
Again, thank you folks for the motivation, the kick ass site, and I trully hope you enjoy the box!

Wow...I don't know exactly what to say..
This is easily the most creative box on the site, and what's even more impressive is that it manages to look every bit official. Definitely one of the boxes that truly manages to break the mold. Keep up the amazing work! +fav/+fav author

#10 I'm very honored, thank you.
Considering all the artwork is from scratch.I'm actually surprised it came out as official as it did as well.
I actually drew 3 or 4 rough layouts on paper to give myself an idea of what I wanted the final piece to look like, prior to actually assembling the box.

Hey guys, thank you so much for all your comments and favs!
And I'm absolutely ecstatic that the box made it into the Hall of Fame.
#16 Thank you sir. I believe the Wacom Tablet I have is of the Intous variety. It makes coloring scanned drawings a heck of a lot more precise, which was a big help with this piece.
