James Cameron's Avatar box art cover

A blu-ray cover I made for James Cameron's AVATAR. Personally, I think this is one of the cleanest and most professional covers I've designed to date, and I'm really proud of it. Feedback is most welcome, and thanks for looking.

The skewing on the spine doesn't connect to the template.

That's being a bit particular isn't it? Especially considering that's just the preview. I'm not the best at skewing, no, but the cover's the main focus.

@Citrus Definitely, but in my opinion, feedback isn't really pointing out a mistake and not offering advice to better it.

@BenBrownDesign Okay. Fix the skewing on the spine and the actual box, because the skewing doesn't match up to the template.

Better?

The boxart is really nice. I appreciate that you actually played with the kearning and leading, rather than slapping the text simply on it. Very simple, but at the same time I feel like it's missing a little something in the back to. Can't put my finger on it though, but it feels unbalanced to the cover. Regardless, it's really nicely organized.

I think your presentation needs better work, but I have the same issue. I'm pretty positive, since you're in graphic design, you probably made this at a very high resolution (300 or 600 dpi?) so the printable would be of great quality and presentation is least of your worries.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. I know what you mean with the back, too. I think it lacks a bit of dynamic, you know because the text takes up the majority of the back cover? Everything is very conform and strict to a margin on the back, whereas the front has a bit more movement with the image and flowers.

As for the res, it's 3098 x 1714 for the full cover :)

@BenBrownDesign It is because of the amount of text. I guess it just needs a counter balance, to go along with the back since they seem a little disconnected. Like, there are existing elements to tie the two, but it's still missing that something.

That may be the dimensions, but what is the pixels per inch you are working at?

@BenBrownDesign Ah crap, I'm probably sucking at explaining. Are you working in Photoshop by chance? I can take a screencap and show you what I mean if that is the case.

This is nice. It looks very official and reminds me of the German Special Edition Box Art. The only thing that is bothering me is the presentation which is a little bit too boring IMO.

Thanks, I appreciate it. What would you suggest to present my work better for my future stuff?

@BenBrownDesign
Try to go for a brighter Background to Shift more focus to the Box, and maybe add a reflection.

Only love your signature. +Fav for pretty signature.
about your box, I have to say It's too dark and I don't think have a well result in Printing.

@LastLight - I disagree, especially on the front. It's really vibrant.

This cover is great. I think the skewing and presentation are just minor issues. I mean, these days on VGBA people tend to give too much importance to secondary aspects (presentation, 3D look) which I personally feel distracting from the cover itself.

My only suggestion is to move the AVATAR logo and get rid of those 20th century fox, lightstorm and blu-ray logos on the front, but I'm just nitpicking.

To the skewing part: It's not like I didn't fav the box because of the skewing, I was just pointing out an issue.

Sometimes, it's just better to make a 2D box (like this link ) than a 3D box.

That statement isn't totally true about current-day VGBA either.
