Heart of Darkness is a very dark adventure game, with bleak and lonely atmosphere, along with many gruesome death scenes along the way all involving a young boy. I have NO idea how this game every got away with an E rating in the first place, and that's why I chose it for this round. With just a little more to it, this could have been a very mature and disturbing adventure. Not that it wasn't already though.
Comments are appreciated, also take a look into this game if you haven't before.
This was rated E? Simply looking at the cover I wouldn't have thought so.
Anyway, the cover's suitably dark, atmospheric, not something you'd expect from a supposedly family-friendly game. I should point out that the glow on the logo is a bit rough, which could have been intentional, but there you go.
Damn that is sick. Almost looks like an album.
All the colors are so dark and terrifying. If this was the cover and I saw it back then. God knows I'd say "that game looks scary"
...
I miss the tagline where ever it is
I took a look at the game, it looks amazing for ps1 game. Might have to look around for it.
As for the box, you've done a great job making it look mature, well, more mature than it already is, but I think you could make the logo fit in more, as at the moment it looks like it was just pasted on. Try giving it the same texture everything else has.
Ah the nostalgia, I spent many a night playing this game. My memory is hazy but isn't there a part where the kid earns the power to throw energy balls or something? That was awesome. Shame I don't think I ever finished it.
Anyway, I love the box, it captures the theme really well.
It's funny, because the game already looks terrifying, even with an E-rating. You could've just changed the rating on the official cover and it would have been an adequate entry for this round. I'm with you, I have no idea how they got away with that rating.
#15, Maybe, because most don't remember or even know these games.
as for myself, I heard from this game way back, never played it.
I saw this in a magazine and got a great score so it must be a great game.
as for the cover apart from not knowing what the game is about?
it has the dark feeling written all over it. I really like that logo and the front is very well done.
The is back nothing special imo, but it does the job.

Though I'm not so fond of the tagline placement, it's a sweet box. Looks terrifying as hell, if you'll pardon my language.
I really love the effectes around "heart". I wish it would have just faded out more.

This was rated E? Christ it was like a 12 or a 15 in England! This game was totally messed up. Might try and beat it agian. Anyway, awesome box!
@5 It's quite cheap to get ahold of. It plays very similar to Oddworld Abe's Exoddus too

Fun fact: the first Persona got an E rating on the PS1 also.
This looks great.

Never heard of it. Though it's rather strange because the final novel in my Orion series is called "Orion and the Heart of Darkness".
Anyways, nice box. Might check the game out if I can find it.

Why do these contest boxes get such low rep?
