Haven't made a box-art in quite some time. I've been focusing, as some of you know, on a dream of mine.
This is that dream. Orion, the Harry Potter-Narnia-Lord of the Rings-Prince of Persia-Inheritence, inspired adventure epic. A story I have been working on since I was 12 years old.
I'm almost there now, so the dream could become a reality quite soon.
Congrats on the book. I hope you're not offended, but I'm not a fan of the title. It's not very creative, and if I saw it in a book store my first assumption would be that it's a generic fantasy novel. I like the cover, though, and I hope the book does well.
Did you draw the art? If so, it's really awesome, though I agree with TwistedTinkerToy about that it sounds like a generic fantasy novel. Also (It may be just the presentation,) I dislike the fact that the book is square/wide instead of being tall, because that reminds me to these books for little children, that often had that shape, though this is considerably bolder.
Hope your book does well, and best of the lucks, I may check it out If it makes it here.
P.S.: Are these quotes from actual reviews?
#8, I see. About the art, I had also thought about DA, but wasn't sure. And about the quotes, I thought these could have been the thoughts of the people from the publishing houses he sent the book to (I hadn't noticed one was fron the Times.)
#7, I'm pretty sure that Lee didn't draw the art, but I know he created the logo. Looks like fantasy pieces found on deviantART or something. I also doubt those are actual quotes, as he's not published yet.
The title does sound a little generic, but I think it fits what he's going for, I like the design immensely. I hope his book makes it out to the U.S.
Orion and the Blade of Divinity
Orion and the Guardian of Cambrio
Orion and the Sword of the Gods
Orion and the Curse of Cambrio
Orion and the Prophecy of the Gods
Orion and the Sword of Kings*
Orion and the Cradle of Light
Sword is what I'm running with at the moment. It might not be what it is called yet, depending on what people think of the other titles. I'm leaning towards "Prophecy of the Gods" as it sounds quite mystical.
And no, I did not draw the art. The quotes are just ones I pulled from other books, nothing official just yet. :)
Yes, the book will be released worldwide. I'm pretty close to sealing deal with a publisher right now. They love what they have read and they have read the full 336 page first draft. The final is being written up at the moment, as I want to make sure everything works as I planned.
I should know more soon. I've just got to make sure I don't mess up the interview like I did last time....Bit of shaving foam on my ear....didn't go down too well.
#7, The book will be normal sized. Not as big as this one, I messed the diametres up when I was morphing it. It's the size of say, Eragon's book. But around 100 pages less.
#9, About the size of the Eragon books? Well, regardless of the size, I hope and trust this will be way better than Eragon was, because these were terrible books, IMO.
#10, In width and height, it's a standard size but Eragon was right in front of me so I used it as an example.
I hope it will be a success too. The plot is decent and the characters are rememberable. The title isn't astounding but it works and it's book 1 of a saga so there's plenty of room for development.
It has a lot in it so that's a plus. I feel there's plenty to be enjoyed in the novel so I just hope many others enjoy it as much as I do.
#12, Just got back from the interview. Everything went well, I had no shaving foam on my ear this time unlike Penguin Books' interview, so that was a plus. I still have 3 to meet but after today I feel I might have just as well sealed the deal. They're very interested.
#15, Not a problem mate, whenever you get the chance. :)
