it's my first boxart and I haven't gotten myself a proper photoshop program, yet.

Looks like it was done in paint. We can clearly tell that you just stuck black renders on a balck background and drew white thoughts on it for "stars"
If you can't get photoshop at the very least get Gimp or Paint.net.
