Hi guys, So this is not a box art, it's a book art.
I've been writing a long story (novel) book for some time now and it's not even 1/4 finished yet but I thought I'd make a cover for the book. The story is a fantasy that's why I wanted the cover to have a mysterious feel to it.
Everything in this cover is costume made from scratch, I've drawn everything in it using photoshop, except for the map I drew by hand and colored in photoshop (inner map).
You can see the original images I used posted on my DA account, I've created them a while back and only now have I found myself skilled enough to create the cover.
Right now, the front cover doesn't sell me at all. It's really pretty, but many fantasy novels would include a character or two, though not necessary. This is perhaps a little too mysterious looking for me.
I've been itching to start work on a graphic novel idea that's in my head, maybe I will give it a try and post it here.
I hope I don't sound harsh, I just wanted to be honest.
#2, I can actually understand her paranoia with art thieves. If deviantART has taught me one thing, it's that people will steal one's art without a second thought. That's just the way of the internet.

#2, I usually don't bother watermarking a boxart since it's not entirely my work, but just a design. But this one, though it's not such a great designing work but it's still work I did for my own design and thus I don't want it to be stolen, like tleeart said that's the way of the internet.
#2, no not harshat all. I wanted to include a character but I'm not skilled enough to draw it neither by hand nor by Photoshop, but hopefully I'll manage to draw the main character's weapon somehow and find a way to place it in the design.
Yeah I understand the watermark as well. There is so many people that steal art. Anyways as for the design I think it looks very nice and very novelish if that makes sense. I'm not a fan of fantasy books. I'm into Star Wars or War novels personally. I think your best bet would be to have the book novel with this type of clean and mysterious look and add a sleeve around the book that is more focused on characters and HEY LOOK AT ME on the shelves. This is very smooth and doesn't jump out at you.
but then again the Twilight covers look like garbage and every girl on the planet loves the book.
Let me start off by saying this looks very professional. I like the mystery of the front cover. It allows the basic shapes, colors and lighting to work to catch my eye. This can be way more effective than putting a character on the cover.
Believe me, I totally get the watermark, but my suggestion is to lower opacity a bit more so that it is there just enough that it can be seen. This will provide you with the security of a watermark while not offending the beauty of the artwork.
I see a few typo errors, for example your paragraph should be more like this:
"The world is running out of time as curses fall upon it, one by one as the horizon darkens with fear and desperation. Seven Sephers must gather to awaken the sleeping dragon, but none of those who have dedicated their lives to saving the world, have ever succeeded.
Now, seven companions are heading to fulfill this duty.
They are the earth's final hope.
People are watching plots unfold with increasing anxiety."
Sorry, I'm one of those "Perfect" typing people, I like to write also so excuse my eye for your written mistakes such as "dadicated, seem to success and anixity".
As for the cover I quite like it, It has a mysterious look and works quite well.
#9, Thank you. :) and about the watermark, I have tried smudging it off myself when it was low opacity and it really is easy to get ride of since the BG is soft and easy to manipulate anything into.
#10, lol it's a she, sir.
#11, Aha, thank a lot for correcting my grammar mistakes (My English is not very good as you can see), I was too excited and impatient to recheck it but had a hunch that many things were wrong. I'll use your correction instead.
This is really nice. It has a consistent and ethereal flow. Nice work.
Also, you don't really have to worry about watermarking your box when it's a 3D case. People rarely steal them as they're harder to use and edit because of the perspective. It tends to be a different case with 2D boxes as they can easily be cropped and stolen.
I find it quite understandable that you watermarked your book jacket, even though it is in 3D. I had a time where one person stole one of my designs even in its template and applied it to a T-Shirt to sell on ebay. That was taken down by my part, along with several other artists that claimed to have their art stolen. :3
I personally love the design. It's very strong on the ambiance, and the colors - oh man the natural blue colors - they work extremely well. The typography does not clash within the design, rather it blends in extremely well and stand out perfectly. I would guarantee that this design really does stand out amongst most of the books I've seen in a local bookstore, and in a very good way.
I also liked that you designed a world map on the back of the jacket, that shows you have a very vast attention to detail.
I don't care if it's not a video game cover, and I don't care if is even based on a game, this requires more attention from the eyes to please. Madam, allow myself to congratulate you on this work of art.
If I saw this book at a store, I'd definitely pick it up out of curiosity. As soon as I found out dragons were in it, though, I'd drop it like it's a blue giant star.

I had to put a water mark on it since I own no Copyrights and this is not like a Game Box where the images I use are premade by someone else.
The image on the front is an actual place in the story, it's a lake. You can see the Dragon beneath the water surface (I didn't create this dragon).
Image on the back is also an actual place in the story, it's a field seen at the end of the plot.
So, if you saw this in a bookshop, will you be inspired to by it? :D
lol, just let me know what you think, guys. Thanks!

I like it. But I dont see any reason to put your name on the front. No one is going to steal it. Its very clean and professional.

I love the way the dragon is under the water, but I think the red clashes a bit with the blue-y green.

#9 If he/she(I'm not sure,I think it's she) lowers the opacity a little more anyone could easily smudge it off.

I'd go in-depth as to why this is a brilliant design, but honestly, I just feel like saying... it's beautiful. Stunning.
Seriously excellent work.
