Saving Private Ryan is easily one of my favorite movies of all time, so I wanted to make a box that really reflected how incredible this movie was. My main goal was to be unique and I did not see any other Saving Private Ryan boxes that were even remotely like this. As you can see I decided to make a box art representing the diary of one of the soldiers in the battalion on the search for Private Ryan. This is the diary of TFG Upham, which for those who have seen the movie, is the translator. I figured he was the most likely candidate to even have a diary. So the front cover is the journal entry explaining the horrors that the battalion experienced on D-Day, and that the only why to describe the horrors was through photos. I think the rest is pretty self-explanatory. This box was a lot of fun to make and took me about a day. Conceptualization was quick; this one hit me hard and fast. A lot of time and effort went into this box though. I want to thank everyone who gave suggestions in the WIP thread. Credit for the template goes to Jevangod. All other images used for the box are from Google Images. I hope you all like it as I am extremely pleased with the results.
Please view in full in order to really see all of the details. Any comments/favs are appreciated.
An excellent design, though it is a bit hard to tell the back from the front and maybe a different plastic cover color would have looked better but this is an excellent and unique design indeed. +fav
#3, There were two main reasons I did not crop it to the edges of the diary.
1) The diary is supposed to look like it's on a desk. That's why there's wood background to the left or right of it and a pen to the right.
2) The diary image was not big enough. I had to do a lot of work to make it look good at that resolution.
#5, Maybe they are a bit similar, but it is a diary. I couldn't make it look totally different or they wouldn't each by one half of the same diary.
#7, Thanks, I thought the red looked a lot more dramatic than the blue as well as accented the cover and added some flare.
#2,4,6,8, Thanks for the compliments and favs.
I'm very happy that I was able to finally make a non-vector box that I'm pleased with.
