I like how you inverted the midgar - it actually doesn't look half bad.
The only thing that sorta bugs me is the "knights of Midgar" part on the logo. I can't make it out - I guess a simple cursive font alone would've worked more than with all those distortive effects.
However I love the quality and the original design. BTW, who is the guy in your avatar? what happened to George?

Wooo. I wish this game was for real... as I'll dig my Neo Geo Pocket out of my drawl (Only great game was SF vs SNK). Title is a bit difficult to read, but apart from the it's great. Nice curve on the screenshots text. Nice job!
