Never Owned A Playstation 2?...

It seems everyone I have spoken too on this site has owned a PS2 at least at some point in their life. Even most of my real life mates has a PS2 or use to own one. So im just curious if im the ONLY person on the site that has never owned one in my life!! I had a Gamecube and original Xbox before moving on to Xbox 360 and Wii.

Only 80 GB can play PS2 games, I believe. I could normally play PS2 on my PS3, and then played on someone elses PS3 to try out a new PS2 game I just got and it didn't work on it. I think 80 GB PS3's are out of stock now, though. They're never in stores anymore...

Lucky you! The European PS3 doesn't have backwards compatibility. The 60GB version had half-compatibility with some games only but Sony have stopped selling that version in UK

Get PS3 either way. It rocks. Don't forget to pick up GTA IV for it as well unless you already have the 360 version!

Ah, good thing. The 80 GB is certaintly worth it since it has the ability to play PS2 games and has more space.

The PS3 does not interest me in any way possible. I already have GTA4 for 360, I have quite a big DVD collection and im not interested in paying £15-£20 for blu-ray and also im not a Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy fan so what reason do I need to have a PS3? The 360 and Wii will keep me entertained till the next generation I reckon...

well, PS3 or not, the PS2 was definitely the greatest console of the last generation. The Gamecube and Xbox PALED in comparison. Yeah, the online play was nothing like Xbox Live, and it could only have 2 controllers on one console unless you had a multitap, but it had so many awesome games it's not even funny.

@Steven: ps3 backwards compatibility isn't so great. It's tolerable, but ps2 games playing on the ps3 looks worse than if they play on a ps2. Some games like FFXII still look great on the ps3, but you could definitely tell the difference with games like ratchet: deadlocked among others.

Apart from LittleBigPlanet, I wouldnt buy any of those games. Xbox Live is £40 a year which works out something like £3.33 per month. I would much rather pay £3.33 a month to get excellent online service than pay nothing and get a (from what i've heard) distinctly average online experience.
Actually thinking about it, LittleBigPlanet does sound like the type of game to get boring after a few hours or so... Hmmmm no PS3 exclusives really appeal to me I guess.

Average? have you ever played a Playstation 3 online? Hello? Resistance supports up to FORTY players. Warhawk is absolutely INSANE. And LBP would probably only get boring after like what, 3 years? You know that you can create your very own levels and send them to other people online, and you can play their levels? You know that all of this can be done in co-op for up to four players? And "excellent online experience", isn't saying much when a lot of the hugely played 360 multiplayer games have been ported to the PC or were on the PS3 aswell. Yeah, it's all about "kodfor" these days. And you didn't really explain why you wouldn't want any of the others. If you'd happily play a shooter like Halo 3 or Bioshock I don't see why you wouldn't play Resistance or Killzone for that matter. Your post WREAKS of bias.

I never owned one either. I had a gamecube and xbox too and I now have a 360 and wii too. haha.
I had a ps1 though, and only never bought a ps2 to because my neighbors had one and i borrowed it whenever i wanted to play it.
