I've listened to a good deal of hip-hop not about hoes and money, and I'm still yet to find a song without the word "nigger" in it.

Yeah I kinda hate the misconception that all hip-hop is like that.

That's a challenge. Only white rappers, I guess. I don't really care though.

Maybe an over generalization, but being a newcomer to this genre of music I haven't really looked far enough into good rappers. I had listened to maybe 10 songs before I got this album, so my previous encounters were songs by people like Lil Wayne or Wacka Flocka which I absolutely hate. Do you guys have some good recommendation for me? Would you say I should start with late 80s/90s and work my way forward, or just listen in any order?

Great, thanks very much. I have another really, really great song to share:

I admit it can be very weird the first two or three times, but you won't regret it. Takes a while to decipher the "weirdness" but you will be so glad once you do, one of the finest songs I've heard all year.

If you're trying to get into Kendrick getting Section.80 is a good move, also check the Kendrick Lamar EP.

Actually I've even heard white rappers use the word.

I think Childish Gambino is pretty good, and I was going to try Kendrick Lamar.

Gambino has this cartoonish shtick about him that I like but many people hate. Lamar and Gambino aren't similar, but are both good.

Love this soundtrack. Favourites would be Treasure Trove Cover, Freezeezy Peak and Click Clock Wood.

Listen to Lupe Fiasco and you'll rarely come across any profanity. That's what I love about him.

Oh yeah and Patches, I recommend Lasers by Lupe Fiasco. It's probably my favorite rap album ever, and not a single song lacks a good meaning. (No songs about money, fame, or hoes)

    A few examples:

(Not from Lasers, but an awesome song nonetheless.)

I disagree, a newcomer to Hip Hop shouldn't listen to Odd Future.

No problem, but you also tend to grow into them. After you've been listening to hip-hop for a long time you might want to try them again. I didn't like them at first, then I tried listening to them more and I ended up as a big fan.
