Default Sonic Unleashed Coming to Wii

....and Xbox 360, PS3, and PS2, scheduled to release this Winter. According to IGN, Sonic Unleashed is running on Sega's new "Hedgehog Engine", which has been in development for the last three years. Sega hopes to bring Sonic back to the glory of his older days and restore the gameplay to the series that made Sonic a legend in his own time.

Nice...so they are finally are making a 2.5D Sonic game for major consoles...about F@çkin' time.

I going to wait for this, but which version should I get? Wii or PS3?

It's the same game....my guess is that the only difference will be a slight downgrade in graphics on the Wii, and different (hopefully not motion) controls.

I would probably get the PS3 version, since it would probably look nicer and have more traditional controls. However, the Wii version will probably support control using the Wii-remote turned sideways....just like the old days.

PS2? Come on... I know it was arguably the best console ever released (game library-wise) but seriously Sega, give us a true current-gen Sonic game already. Just let the PS2 die... it's had it's time, just focus on making a great PS3/360/Wii game...

Once again, coming to every console. As expected from Sega, milking everything they can from Sonic once again. Unfortunately Sega has never succeeded with that tactic. The game is going to be very generic.

I was never really a fan of Sonic, but this one seems it might be decent, when it comes out, I'll give it a try, and hope it doesn't suck.

Please, just PLEASE Sega, make it for PS3 and 360. Most of your games for Wii have been average to crap. If they were to put it on PS3 and 360 only, it would be the first TRUE next-gen (or current-gen, in this case. I just say next-gen because Sonic's last 360/PS3 game sucked) Sonic game.

Sonic Heroes was multiformat and that sold quite well for Sega. And I dont get how you can call this game generic just because its on different consoles?
I mean can you blame Sega for releasing this game on more than one or two consoles? If this is going to be the game that re-invents Sonic and make him good again, they would want as many people to play it as possible. And if that means catering for the people that only have a PS2 and can not afford to go next gen yet, so be it. Good luck sega

I didn't present myself very good. Yes, the crappy 3d Sonics have sold quite well, but what I was going after that they are all crappy. And the deal with multiplatformers, the more platforms they are going to make the game for, the more they have divide their manpower, which results as less actual content. Of course the other method is concentrating on the content on one platform, and just make crappy ports for other consoles. The first method is of course commonly used by EA and the second one by Ubisoft. And I am quite confused how people can still trust Team Sonic. I mean, some ten years of crappy Sonic games straight (OK, excluding Sonic Advance 2, it was good) and people still are believing that this is a Sonic game that doesn't feel like sticking a hair brush up one's ass.

you should say that about Sonic on the 360 and PS3. Wasnt THAT supposed to reinvent the series? It was SUPPOSED to, but it sure as hell didn't.

You are right for the most part about that, but Sonic hasn't always been bad in 3D. Some of his earlier 3D outings (adventure 1 and 2) were excellent. Sonic 3D, on the other hand, was not. Despite being the Hedgehog's first 3D game, it failed. The other Advance games and the two Rush games were also great. Sonic Heroes and Shadow were OK (6.0-7.5/10 like) but after that it really started to go downhill.

Umm....you guys DO understand how ports work, right? The whole idea of the port is to just make one game, and then bring that same game to another console, just with controls for that console. It's not like they're dividing their manpower by making it on every console. And even if they were, Sega has never made a game this big in their entire existence. They have ever section of their company, in Japan, the US, and Eurupe, all working on this game. The engine for it has been in the works for the last three years. This is not just another game they through out there. And it's 2.5D. You can't even compare it to Sonic 06. That's like comparing the original Super Mario Bros to Mario Galaxy, or Super Metroid to Metroid Prime. Sure they're the same game character, but the game ideas are so different that there are no comparisons to draw. And stop talking about Sonic 06 already! Sega themselves admit that it was a crappy game. It was only meant to come out on the 360, and be a really cool game, but they admit that they finished it in a hurry and rushed it out before it was the game they really wanted, in order to meet the PS3 launch. Seriously...am I the only one here that reads news articles.

Basically what it comes down to is that this is a side-scrolling 2D Sonic game, and while Sonic Team has a bad record, they have never screwed up when making a 2D Sonic game.

oh yeah, i forgot that. excuse my blatant stupidity in the last few posts. With the entirety of Sega working on the game, it's hard to see how it could fail. The last few games have been made just by a third/quarter/fifth whatever of Sega's studio(s). While it's not completely guaranteed yet, this game is more than likely going to be awesome. I want great gameplay before anything else, but I do hope they put more effort into the story and voice acting too. A cool multiplayer mode would be nice (like SA2B) but it's not completely necessary.

Dr. Eggman returns as the primary antagonist for Sonic Unleashed. In this installment, he has managed to shatter the planet into pieces, and it is up to Sonic to return the broken continents back to normal by retrieving the Chaos Emeralds and activating their power.[1] Sonic's progress is made even more difficult by his (as-yet unexplained) contraction of lycanthropy, turning him into a werewolf at night. It is also said he will team up with a mercenary girl named Alexa Woods.

that quote is from wikipedia. i'm taking that Alexa Woods is another human. *sigh*

OH NO! Not another human character! Please, Sega! Don't do this again! Almost every human character except Eggman have been lame and easy-to-hate, and let's not even THINK about that kid from the anime. Having Princess Elise in Sonic 06 was as big a mistake as the entire game on its own. Sonic should never have human characters.

Sonic should never have any other characters that dont already exist PERIOD!!!

Im hoping Sega wont create some new hedgehog or cat or racoon type thing to fit in with the story.
Just keep it as Sonic, Tails, Eggman, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge and possibly Amy (not because I like her, but because I cant imagine Sega leaving her out.)
