    Default Critique Me

Not as a person...just as an artist. I want to know what I can do to get better. What are my glaring flaws, things that I could improve on, or just tiny things that you have noticed. I try to find everything I can on my own, but obviously there are some things that I miss, and I don't feel like my work can compete with most of the other work on the site, like from MARKER, LK, or ffseer and TM. What can I do to improve my boxes in the future?

Ah, perhaps a switch in style? You're a great artist and I don't see much you can improve on when it comes to technique.

Try working on new concepts and layouts when it comes to design. Designing boxes for differing genres will also help you become versatile; not to mention you'll pick up some cool things you can add to your overall style when it comes to boxarts

Haven't heard that from anyone recently.

yeah seriously. you're amazing koopadasher, and the ONLY thing you could do to "improve" is to change your style, and that is only so you might learn new techniques (not that you need them) but there you are.

    Cool

Firstly, thanks for putting me in the company of the others you mentioned!

As Ladykiller says, vary your design more and create boxes from different genres... in fact, try to make a radically different cover to the last one you do! Also, take inspiration from anything that grabs your eye... adverts, movie covers, products, etc.. Sometimes, I'll be walking down a street and I see a big billboard with an advert on it.. and I say "WOW!! That's a nice touch... I'll use that in a cover!" - and the billboard could be a car advert or even household cleaner product!
As you know, my "No More Heroes" box is part based on the Kill Bill movie cover... and my last box.. "The Club" is actually inspired a little by a custom movie cover of "16 Blocks", so I'm a big movie buff!

Then again... I guess everyone has their own style... with a name like KoopaDasher, we can probably rely on you for making great Nintendo/Mario-style boxes, whereas someone like FF22 can't be beaten for creating RPG boxes ..... as for me, I'm just a nutter!! LOL

OH... I must also add, best way to improve... copy other people's boxes -- not exactly obviously! LOL ----- Imitation is the best form of flattery!
