I have to confess, Dark Souls beat me. I think I only managed to beat the Taurus Demon before getting utterly roasted by the dragon immediately afterwards. Considering I had already died about 300 times beforehand, my patience was wearing thin.
A shame really. I love the lore of it all, I still have the soundtrack CD (it's awesome) but it's just not the same.
On topic; I'm finally trying to get all 160 fragments in FF XIII-2. 146 and counting.
You aren't supposed to fight the Dragon.
You have to wait for the Dragon to fly and blow fire. Once you do that you can run down the bridge and to the right down the stairs.
If you're having trouble, look up a guide on YouTube. I'd hate for you to quit this game on a miniscule Dragon that's supposed to always be avoided.
I already did unfortunately. I got the game release day and tried it then. In the end I just got too frustrated with it and traded it back in. Fortunately I was allowed to keep the collectors edition box with the CD in it. I'll likely follow the lore on the wikia or something. I love stories more than gruelling gameplay.
There's a problem about Dark Souls and it isn't particularly the game's fault, but you have a community of gamers who have conquered the game, others that have just barely completed it (me), and the other community that basically buys the game due to all of the hype about how hard the game is and they end up selling it because they are not patient enough for the copious amounts of patience that Dark Souls requires for you to play it.
I don't think that games like Dark Souls are worth playing, that game is a large time consumer, and the only way to get through the game other than following guides is trial and error.
I've completed both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls but I don't feel that a lot of my time in the games were spent with joy. I got slight gratifications out of completing bosses and getting stronger though. So it's ostensibly impossible to try to coach a new comer on this game, especially when they're almost too intimidated to even play it without making a thread about it on the internet beforehand.
So you've barely completed it, yet you have completed it. You are advising people not to play the game based on the fact that it is time consuming and requires trial and error to overcome the challenges contained within...ok, I'm just gonna back off and just leave this alone.
bless you with this DOPE
I've beaten both games but it's not like I finished the game totally unscatched, I think in Demon's Souls I put in 60 hours, 40 hours in Dark Souls, but I don't feel like, "Yeah, I kicked Demon's Souls butt", more like, "Wow, I can't believe I finally beat it". No, I'm not saying that people shouldn't play the game, I'm saying people shouldn't buy the game and try to play it like a button masher, I don't think anyone should play those two games unless they are absolutely willing to remain patient throughout the entire playthrough.
Of course this is all just my personal advice, you can play it if you want.
Ninja Gaiden 3, as a Ninja Gaiden fan I am disappointed but I can look past the shortcomings and enjoy this game, playing on hard right now.
Dark Souls. Really loving the late-game. I've already placed one Lord Souls into the Lordvessel (Bed of Chaos's) and I've still got Seath the Scaleless (I'm actually on Duke's Archives now), Four Kings, and Gravelord Nito.
Also, is it worth it to explore Darkroot Basin/Ash Lake?
Wanderer and my two main weapons are Quelaag's Fury Sword +4 and Lightning Spear +5.
I didn't even dodge once, I think. My stamina's high enough that I can just block and take their attacks until I get close enough, and then I just double-handed my lightning spear and went to town. I had to use a humanity after the first two.
