I'm talking about aesthetics, I'm sure you understand what that is, you're a designer after all. It's nothing to do with the fact the game appeared dumb, I'm saying that it had an appeal and was consistent, that's what made it popular. To change the aesthetics of a game belittles the fanbase and gives off the feeling that the developers/publishers don't really care about the franchise. That's why a lot of Resident Evil fans aren't the biggest fans of the latest games.

You're right, a lot of people initially had a shocked reaction and hated the new design on principle (although, let's be fair here, he did look a lot worse than he does now), though Capcom did say they expected it to happen (though I have my doubts, they didn't respond fast enough for me to believe it was planned.) And a lot of people still think that way, I can't do anything about that. As I said, the developers dug their own holes, and it's up to them to sort it out.

As for judging a game by the trailers...Well, yeah. How else am I supposed to get the direction they're taking the game in if not from trailers? Trailers are supposed to show the world how the game is progressing and how it's going to look (not feel, that's what demos are for) so it's no surprise that people are voicing their opinions based on trailers.

Obviously a trailer is for determining what a game is about, but one teaser trailer isn't enough material to base your whole opinion of a game off of. If that were the case I would never have bought Uncharted.

How 'bout we wait 'til the game is in our clammy little hands before we make any conclusions?

It's everything else that makes me not like this reboot. The story they've presented so far is really boring and stupid, and the characters have no likability personality wise, at least in my opinion. The gameplay has also changed quite a bit, and for any fan of the original games this is a valid reason not to want this one, not to mention there is hardly anything that makes this game resemble the series it's rebooting.

If the people complaining about this game still buy it it's their own damn fault, don't talk crap about something for months and then get mad when you spend money on it and don't like it. For those of you who think the game looks great, fine, buy it, play it, have fun, but don't lash out on the fans of the original series for not liking these changes, when most of them have valid complaints(not talking about people who hate the game specifically because Dante looks different).

Also on the topic of the boxart, I think it's just typical, not surprised this is how it looks at all. Don't really like it, the full red background would have been a plus though.
    ^This.

Although it took me a bit longer to get over the redesign, but honestly people have liked or complained about Dante's look from square one. I myself liked Dante's look in DMC2 even though everyone else I personally know who likes the DMC series tells me its' an abomination, but they base that opinion on the game being so different from DMC1, not the style that he's portrayed in. (Although I'm also biased because DMC2 Dante is in SMT3: Nocturne.)

Everyone's got their opinions, but I'm going to wait until I've got a shot at playing the game before I set any of mine in stone.
Who knows maybe it'll just take some time to get used to it; I mean it's kinda like watching someone play a game, while watching someone play you can get frustrated at their lack of apparent ability or knowledge, but it's a completely different experience once your the one holding the controller.

So, just relax, take a chill-pill, and we'll see just how this will play out.

They misused the whole 'contrasting colors' thing. The blue should have gone along with the red/yellow/firey scheme. It then would have been decent.
Even I think the same. They must done something better with the top half
