The way things are going makes me believe this one will be several chapters shorter than the previous version, which clocked in at 33 chapters. I have taken a few things out, as I felt they lengthened the story in a way that was unneeded.

33 chapters on the previous draft, I am currently near the end at 18 chapters. Give it 7 or 8 more and it will clock in at 25/26 chapters.

Orion is cancelled until further notice. My PC was in the store, getting fixed with a new anti-virus when everything died. I am currently using the oldest computer in the world right now.

Just got word, PC has a hard drive issue. I expected this, as my hard drive is quite old. Never mind though, it is being fitted with a new one and the contents of the old one are located on my flash drive anyway... well, the important book stuff is anyway. It is also being fitted with 4gb's of FREE ram due to the store screwing it up. They are giving me 4gb's of ram and a 1tb hard drive to replace mine. Turns out, the guy fixing it caused a short in the hard drive, which in turn f'd it up.

You seem to "cancel" this thing a lot. "Postponed" or "delayed" would be better.

Postponed then. Not cancelled. However, it might be cancelled if I don't get my MS Office back, as I lost the disc.

You could just get OpenOffice. It's compatible with most of the MS Office file extensions.

Good idea. Save me from using a pre-cracked version from the web. Thanks for the input.

I did. It's all on my box net account. I just can't do anything with it right now because this old ass baclup PC runs slower than a grandma in a 100m sprint, and I have no writing program. After the 5th computer I thought it would be wise to start backing my files up.

I have just had an idea... something unique and never-before-seen in a book. I am going to mix third person (as in me telling the story) with first person (as in Orion taking over for a single chapter). Sound good?

I'm not sure. Many critics get VERY strict with narrative stance being switched around like that. Say a person talking in first person telling a story to someone else but still an over hanging third person narrative could work

That's what I meant, Orion will tell the story from his perspective. He will describe everything that is going on as if he were me. It would work as a journal. Orion would tell everyone over the course of a week what was going on. What Milo got himself into, whether he activated any traps, woke any of the undead etc. And also how he was doing, how he felt.

Not saying I will definitely do it. But it would be nice to mix things up a bit.

Actually. Have it so say, Orion finds a journal, like in the Elder Scrolls, he reads it, it's first person, detailing what happens to who ever owned the thing. That could work well

I have just the person in mind... Barthonaten the Adventurer. The man who rescued damsels, slaughtered bandits, discovered treasures and then took an arrow in the knee. My Skyrim reference is just that, he took an arrow in the knee. Had to do it, lol.

Also, since Skyrim is my source material (HP, LOTR and Narnia are inspiration) I can safely say that your idea works. A journal found in what I call the Labyrinth, a journal owned by Barthonaten, who attempted to navigate the Labyrinth in search of the Shadow Seal. The last key to Cambrio.

Love the idea, definitely works, will definitely do.

    Ever read Moby-Dick?

My point being that this has been done before.

Hmm... well how about Vampires then? Real Vampires, not glimmering frosty haired ones. Anyone up for seeing Orion battle the fang monsters or should I leave them out?

Added some new things to the Orion universe today. Decided to add the following:

    Werewolves (with a twist)

    Vampires (the original blood suckers)

The Unmortals (no, it is not a word, but unmortal does not mean immortal nor mortal, the Unmortal race is simply something that cannot possibly exist)

Geirforn (15 foot tall clawed Minotaur with a Mammoth wool draping down its body. Similar in legend to Bigfoot, only 12 exist)

Scira Centaur (unlike the common Centaur, the Scira are full-blood warriors)

The Nightingales (a legendary group of warriors that "preserve the balance of life". Dressed in full black armour with black hoods and a facial mask covering their face, the Nightingales are extremely powerful mages that aid the Light Seekers against the Darkness)

There are also animals of the forest, swamp and mountains of the region. All of the newly added ones:

Swasauwa (small bug-eyed swamp creatures with razor sharp teeth and claws as sharp as daggers. Seen commonly throughout the region in the swamplands)

Sabre Cat (the ferocious predator of the wild stalks its prey with cunning brute force and unimaginable composure. Common in the tundra regions, and at times seen in the icy conditions of Baru)

Heldura (Ancient Midranian for "Hydra" is a five headed snake that spouts two heads if one is decapitated. Very dangerous, their venom is often used by torturers around the kingdom to extract information from a victim)

All of the animals and such:

Gryphon (just like the myth says)

Griffin (just like the myth says)

Carikas (Half snake, half woman - the Carikas is a very old witch that eats raw, and sometimes cooked, human/elf/dwarf and have been known to indulge themselves with the occasional Orc and Centaur, are ferocious witches with a knack for using mage abilities. Their prey is often kept alive inside of a stewing pot [cauldron] for a few days, as the Carikas feeds on her victim daily. They usually start with the arms, then the tongue, the teeth are used to make chimes and the last thing the victim sees before his/her death is the Carikas cackle and rip out their eyeballs.
Important note: ONLY USE OF HORRIFIC TORTURE IN THE BOOK. CHAPTER 17 IS NOT FOR CHILDREN)

Yuhra (yellow skinned, blind predators of the wild that eat themselves if they cannot find anything else. Have lizard capabilities of growing back eaten limbs if they get too hungry)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will mention more over time, as the book gets closer to completion.

I'm continuing the story now. Just started writing again, had to read through everything to make sure I didn't reveal something twice (again). Should have the novel finished by October's fall.
