Default AC screenplay submitted to Ubisoft

Hey all. Some of you may remember me writing movie scripts a while back, well, I have recently submitted my script to Ubisoft Motion Pictures and I am awaiting a reply from the senior member in charge of the project.

The movie, currently starring Michael Fassbender is seeking a screenwriter with an original, yet loyal script to the source material and I really feel I stand a chance.

I am an unknown, but this script is something I feel will be entertaining and unique. A deep action adventure with believable characters and great action set-pieces. It follows Altair, but adds in new plot devices that the original game did not have. But these devices are tied to the plot of the game, so they fit in nicely.

The script starts off just after Altair has attended William's funeral in Jerusalem and follows him from that point. Sure, you might think it won't be long, but I know how to write a good story and add in new things that weren't in the game which will lengthen the story for a considerable amount of time.

I am hoping to receive this deal with Ubisoft, as I have a great story here, a story that I feel everyone who goes to watch the finished product will enjoy.

Stay tuned for more news, I don't know when I'll receive a reply but I'll let everyone know once I have.

My problem with most video game movie adaptions is that they're too different to the game. When I see a film adaption of something, I don't want to see the story changed or new plotlines. I want to see the book/game/tv show in a film form.

And trying to make a full film out of what is essentially the last half hour of a game seems like a really bad idea. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh or nitpicky, but it's how I feel.

Have a read of it, I haven't changed the game, I've merely added things to it to make a more overall full experience. Certain plot devices, such as The Scarab, are only added in to add a little more to the story and what it is. You'll be pleasantly surprised once you get done with the script.

Example: I've added in Desmond's back story early on in the script, you know, when he gets kidnapped.

Might not have anything to do with the casting, I'll just be the screenwriter. If Ubisoft doesn't reply shortly then I will give this script to a friend of mine to make. He's up in Manchester and recently graduated from film school, he's looking for a project so I might be able to get you in with him.

Whatever the case, I am damn proud of this movie script. If it opens the door to my screenwriting career, great. If not, Orion will fund Ironwing Entertainment and we can make our own movies.

Hostile: Apocalypse, a post-apocalyptic action adventure which takes you from the barren plains of the Mojave and ruined city of Las Vegas to the state of texas. Pretty decent script, my favourite yet. Clocks in at 108 pages and follows 2 survivors trying to find safety in a world that came to an end.

I'm saving it for now though, at least until Ironwing is up and running.

Stories in games are great, in the context of a video game. If you remove those stories, untouched, and place them in a different medium you'll realize how shallow they are. Adaptations adjust the story to fit the medium. Asking for a flawless translation of a 10-15 hour game into an (average) 2 hour film is unrealistic.

Didn't catch this part, so I'll do my best to answer. The last half hour of the game is what? Altair roaming through the kingdom in search of Robert de Sable, right?

Well, in the script, the first time you physically see Altair he's in Jerusalem saving the lives of 5 people about to be hung by a Templar. He takes down the Templar, only for it to be revealed that Robert is still in Jerusalem even after "leaving" Maria in his place at William's funeral.

Altair says his stuff, Robert mocks him, Assassins show up and take down the Templars and Altair chases Robert through Jerusalem, out of the gate and into the rocky canyons where Robert overpowers him and leaves him for dead. Altair returns to Masyaf, downtrodden and in disbelief that Robert slipped through his fingers again and Al Mualim tells him that "Maria" has been "seen" in Acre.

Altair heads to Acre, where he finds Maria and *Enter new plot device* uncovers the Scarab taking a small rectangular box from the ship and making away with it. Altair utilizes his skills to track the "Scarab" to a nearby church in Acre (you know, the one we all jumped off) and Scarab overpowers Altair on the rafters of the interior of the church, Altair barely escapes with his life.

    --------------

You may think that the last 30 minutes of the game is a bad idea to adapt. But in my opinion, there's no other way I could have done it. If I had made Altair pickpocket (though there are pickpockets in the script), eavesdrop or brawl then people would be bored after the first 4 hours. I had to take a large scale game, transform it into a 118 page script (roughly or with action scenes over 2 hours long) and make it work as a full length motion picture.

I kept to the game as closely as I could. The first 9 assassinations are merely Altair's memories, you don't see them happen. What you see, during the script, is the development of Desmond, from his initial capture to the climax of the first game (with an added bonus from ACII and a *new* character with ties to an *ancestor* character). His development, Lucy's development, Altair's development even are the best I've ever done for a movie script.

It's not a tacky 2 hour action flick with little to no game material. It's a full, 118 page action adventure character driven story with close attention to detail and even some game moments in it (like Desmond listening through the vent in the bathroom).

Have a read, you'll see that the story holds water and is canon to the game even though 9 assassinations from the game aren't even in it. You see all 4 major locations, such as Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus along with Arsuf, the Canyons and the Caves. Revisit classic game locations, such as the Palace and the Terrace of Masyaf Castle.

But yeah, I put a lot in it, such as an outstanding scene just before Altair gets to the docks.
