So today was the first day I did crunches instead of sit ups as part of my routine, and DANG. You can definitely feel it working out your ab muscles way more than the sit ups. Of course, they're more difficult that way and because of that I was unable to do the same amount of reps, but I feel so much better.

That was the same feeling I had with my first experience doing crunches as well!

I tried adding Crunches, as well as push-ups, to my routine today.

Good. God. I never realized I was so weak. My whole body's shaking. But it feels like you could sharpen a knife on my core right now.

New update. I just noticed that I'm starting to develop "the vein". You know the vein that runs down really muscular people's (or really skinny people's) arms, the larger one? I've never had that vein before... at least not visible. But now when I flex or do an exercise, I can see it.

Personally, I consider that to be the best achievement so far.

Holy crap, what's your routine. As in, how many reps and sets do you do of each exercise?

Has anyone included pull ups in their exercise plan?

I wouldn't say I have a "routine". I don't even have a set time of day that I do it. Sometimes I try to do a few chin-ups in the morning. Other times I may wake up and do a few push-ups. I've done some crunches while in bed. Most of my exercise happens in small spurts over the course of several hours at night, and I never really plan it. I do a few of something... then rest. Then I go back and do something else... and rest. Maybe I do the sme thing, maybe I do something different. Tonight I alternated between crunches and push-ups, with a few chin-ups. Last night I did almost exclusively crunches. The night before, it was nothing but chin-ups and pull-ups, though not real reps, because I still can't do a real one.

Idk why I suddenly have the vein. I just know that my forearms are getting really toned. It's nice.

It's important to do as many reps as you physically can. If you just do a few push ups here and there it won't actually do anything for you.

For push ups, I do as many as I physically can until I can't push myself up any more. I rest for one minute, then I do it again. I do this 3-5 times. By the last set, I can only do around 20.

Crunches are different for me. I can do crunches all day long but it just hurts too much to continue sometimes.

That probably works if you've been doing it for a while, but the maximum number that I can physically do at a single time right now is 20. On the 20th, I pretty much collapse when it's over. And I need at least five, usually ten minutes before I can do it again.

In the past, I've been able to do 50 in a single round, but I haven't been as interested in push-ups this time, so I haven't gotten near that far yet.

KoopaDasher, you should take a photo of yourself and then in two months take the after photo so you can post them both here.

I nearly collapse after every set. That's the point. If you can do 20 in your first set, you for sure won't be able to do 20 in your second. Just rest for a minute and try again. You have to not be a pussy. When you're starting just do 3 sets.

Are crunches a good workout for losing weight? Besides cardio/sports, what else are good workouts for burning fat?

Crunches don't really burn fat. Just do a lot of cardio.

You want to do activities that raise your body's internal temperature. Which the best and easiest ways are usually cardio and sports :P

Okay, I decided to go back to swimming. I have this awesome calorie counter app for the iPad called MyFitnessPal, if you have an iPad you should check it out. It's an amazing app, you type the name of every food you eat in a day as you go through the day and it automatically searches through a large database of nutrition info and tells you the info of the food, so you don't have to look for it yourself. Then it tells yu how many calories you can eat until you go over your limit, how much protein and stuff you need, and more. It even tells you how much you'd weigh in 5 weeks if you continued eating like that. It's an amazing app, and it's free. Check it out.

Will doing cardio before breakfast increase fat loss? That's what I thought before I read this article. So, is it true?
