    Default ATTENTION Rap Fans

My friend and fellow group member just released his mixtape and I'd appreciate it a lot if the rap fans from this forum listened to some tracks. All the features on this tape are from our group, Empire IX, and almost half of the production is from our producers. So yeah, let me know what you guys think. I know most of you (hi UF) are going to laugh but, better than nothing.

I feature on track 2, SLOMO and I produced (made the beat) track 10, Swaj. The fan favorite so far has been SLOMO and my personal favorite is MCMXC; give those a listen at least.

EDIT: Here are his other releases. Nautical Nobody is the second part in a trilogy, by the way.
SolidDolphins (first part of the trilogy): http://soundcloud.com/stripessolid/sets/soliddolphins/ Listen to track 7, Burger King. I produced it and it's been a fan favorite as well.
Galapagos EP (with fellow group producer Turtle): http://soundcloud.com/stripessolid/s...lid-galapagos/

Thanks for the feedback! I don't think Swaj was supposed to be very funny but it wasn't supposed to be good either haha. Most of the songs except for a few songs (SLOMO and a few others I think) were all done yesterday. He promised it would release today and he got really pressed for time, which was the reason he improvised Swaj. He hates that song but I actually like it haha.

I disagree with him hating it, its rare now to hear people as good as him rapping nowadays, its like everyone jumps on SoundCloud and produces shit no one wants to listen to. Oh, and his improvisation skills aren't bad either haha. But I really like SLOMO though!

Thanks! Everybody likes SLOMO the most it seems, which makes me really happy. I made the beat on Burger King for his last tape and that was everybody's favorite track too.
We're both 15 by the way, so we got a lot of time to improve. The whole group is young; the oldest person in the group of 9 is 18.

Not bad, SLOMO was pretty good track overall. My biggest advice (and take it with a grain of salt because I know you guys are pretty new) is that the beats are repetitive and when you guys are rapping your voices are pretty monotone overall, got that Mac Miller flow.

But definitely keep it up, making music is a great hobby and could possibly lead to other avenues down the road. What program you using to make your beats?
    bless you with this DOPE

This. The monotone part especially. But as he said, because you guys are new, its nothing big.

Thanks for the advice! I don't think the beats are too repetitive, at least for rap. If it's all over the place it wouldn't really fit the rap genre in my opinion, but I'll work on it!

I used Maschine with a Maschine Mikro controller to produce Burger King and Swaj, but I've been moving into using FL Studio and I'm getting pretty good at it; biggest problem is finding good synths. I know our other producers BLVNC, Bewilderment, and Turtle use FL Studio and Einstein (also a rapper) started using Maschine with Maschine Mikro as well. I have no idea what the other producers used; most of them probably used FL.

Nice! Sorry I may have been a bit confusing with my remark; I didn't mean repetitive as in the fact that they all sound the same, but you should add a little variety in with the beat loop that you're using. Changing up the bass pattern (but still keeping an 8-beat count,) some snares, synths, etc. But I understand that finding good synths can be a problem.

I've actually been wanting to muck around with fL for a while, mind if I send you some samples once I'm done with them?

Oh yeah, I've been working on changing up the drums and such, as well as the synths. My beats are improving as I go, but I still have yet to top Burger King. Give it a listen, it's definitely my best: http://soundcloud.com/stripessolid/b...ng-prod-jetlag

And sure man send me some samples. Maybe we can collab on a beat or one of us could rap on it.

FL Studio, nice choice, my friend.
