Arrow Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread

    Original Quote:

Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima has confirmed development on Metal Gear Solid 5 to the twentieth issue (June / July) of the French IG Magazine.

“There will be a Metal Gear Solid 5 with the new FOX Engine,” confirmed Kojima (via Google Translate), “but what we’ve shown was not gameplay, or anything like that. It was only a demo that we had developed internally and released because the lighting and interactions with the environment had fooled everyone.”

Kojima continued: “About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you “a favor” like in the last Metal Gear Solid. I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see. And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into pieces. So it’s better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5.”

Kojima also touched upon Metal Gear Rising, reiterating that it is not a Solid Snake title, but rather an offshoot that does something new.

“Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance never claimed to be a Metal Gear Solid. This is not a game about our beloved Solid Snake. It is a spinoff that tries something different. We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots.”
Seems pretty neat, I'm always up for a new Metal Gear game.

Surprised it took this long. Regardless, unless it goes back to the gameplay style of MGS1-MGS3, I'm not really interested.

Great news for the hardcore MGS fans, though.

Pretty obvious it was going to happen, but it's just so good to finally hear it. Excitement!

Now I have a sudden urge to go back and play 1-4 again.

    Ahh hell yeah!

That's such great news. I expected it to be Big Boss, but I guess not. I'm so freaking excited to see Fox engine. It's gonna be incredible.

I can only imagine what Kojima will pull out of his hat this time. It seems kind of unrealistic, but knowing Kojima, I wouldn't even doubt seeing Snake young again.

The words above MGS5 are Open Ground Reconnaissance Endeavour

Kojima recently tweeted he had something exciting to show at SDCC behind doors, and people who walked out of the presentation said it was amazing.

Cliff Bleszinski ‏@therealcliffyb Just got pulled into a back room at Comic Con by @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN and showed some crazy new secret stuff. Wow.
This is most likely a leak from the presentation, but nobody will know for sure. Maybe we'll hear more at Kojima's MGS 25th Anniversary Event in Tokyo on August 30th.

    Anyhoo, time to speculate.

The screenshots have already been debunked as fake so you know

Konami has nipped this one right in the bud, claiming that the images are entirely false. "Seriously, just in case the #pinch #salt hashtags weren't enough - the chap who claims to have set up the fake rumours has been in touch", reads the publisher's UK Twitter feed. That's that then... That said, Kojima was at Comic-Con and was showing something behind closed doors. What it was is unknown.

Wasn't a fan of MGS 1-3. I am generally awful at these games. Still can't pass the opening mission of any of the games. Maybe this will change my mind like Skyrim did about TES series.

I'm assuming for PS3? Man, when Sony said they wanted a 10-year life span for the PS3, they meant it.

There hasn't been a discussed platform, so it could just as well go to the PS4.

The opening sequences are definitely the weakest parts of the games. Once you get to the bosses, you'll love it. Seriously, give them another try.

No No No. By Can't pass I mean too hard. I get caught and killed everytime.

I haven't had that problem, and I'm not so good at them. :/
I'd say Splinter Cell (the first one) is a lot harder, so playing that might have made MGS easier for me.

I'm pretty sure it's being developed for next-gen consoles.

Well, that's what I got out of Kojima's job opening to work on an MGS for "high-end consoles and PC".

I'm intrigued to see how Kojima decides to carry on the series. He pretty much wrapped things up in MGS4, so it'll be interesting to see how he carries things on without creating more plot lines which will need to be resolved.

And also, SPOILER Isn't Snake dead? I thought the Foxdie virus would have killed him at the end of MGS4?
Interesting stuff, of course, it could even be a prequel to MGS4.

I may be mistaken, I last played through it roughly 2 years ago, I don't fully remember 'exactly' what happened. But I mean, it's pretty much indicated that is his fate.
