I can't believe it's been so long since the first movie. Can't wait for this.

With how terrible Cars 2 was last summer, I think Pixar is trying to make up for it with Brave and now this. I hope it's good...

I kinda wish Jeff Bridges was in this. Then we can have the Lebowski Trio back together.
Anyway, so excited for this. MI is still one of my favourite films of all time. I remember seeing it in the cinemas as a kid

Extremely happy to see Buscemi back as Randall. He makes the best villains.

I dunno man, something about the animation is rubbing me the wrong way. It's almost too clean for me. After the terrible Cars 2 and the lukewarm reviews Brave is getting, I just don't know what to think about this.

This is getting mostly negative reception in a lot of places. People love to associate Pixar with all of the nostalgic, seemingly perfect movies they all saw as kids, or when they were younger. Now, that just because no one liked the Cars series, and Brave isn't going out to be a classic, people are bashing the hell out of Pixar.

I don't understand all the hate.. I don't love either Cars film, but they are by no means awful.

Oh man, that would be fucking awesome. A bowling scene? Anyone? That shit would be epic.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm certainly not bashing or hating on Pixar. I think they still crank out quality films. It's just that they aren't pushing me to go out to theaters like they used to. What always made Pixar different to me is their films were original and had a concept that had not yet been explored, but with that concept they fill it with their trademark Pixar charm. Essentially, Pixar movies have always been simple premised "What If" movies.

    - "What if toys were actually alive?"
    - "What if a rat wanted to cook?"
    - "What if a robot fell in love?"
    - Etc.

Cars 2 had a semi-interesting premise, but after I watched it, all of the drama and emotional dilemmas seemed so force and unnatural, and the ending, while action packed, held no substance for me because I didn't care or believe that the characters were ever in any real trouble. At least, not like the Toy Story 3 inferno scene.

Brave lost interest with me due to the fact that at first I didn't understand what the plot was exactly, and the character designs didn't seem very appealing to me. But whatever, I tried to give it a chance. The trailers however put me off even further due to the comedic timing not being there as well as any real sense of turmoil or trouble outside of "I want my freedom". Now with the reviews being lukewarm as stated before, I have even less of a want to go see that film.

Now with Monsters University, I am confused. I loved the original Monster's Inc because the premise was original and had never been done before. What if monsters scared children simply to make a living? Fantastic! Now, the premise of monsters being in a university just seems like they'll be taking familiar college humor and tropes and simply putting a monster twist to it, which in my opinion doesn't seem as interesting to me. There just doesn't appear to be a lot you can do with that.

Maybe when more information about the plot is released I'll be a bit more hyped for it, but right now I'm more excited for The Good Dinosaur because, again, of its intriguing premise.

What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?
So yeah. I hope that explains the "hate" going on towards Pixar and defines what exactly that "Pixar magic" is.

I'm going to see Brave anyway, I have my doubts, but there is no better way than watching the actual movie to find out if it's good or not. If I weren't living on my own and have my own job, I would be reluctant. Basically I'm willing to risk 10$ to go see it. Mariolee, your reasons for doubt are 10 times more reasonable than what I've been reading across in the interwebs in the last two hours.

Bottom line: I wanted a Monsters Inc. sequel, not a prequel. Also, trailers mean nothing to me, they always either skew my opinion about the movie as a whole or give me false hype, I don't pay a lot of attention to them anymore.
