    Default The VGBA Apprentice Program

So, as many of you have noticed, this site is going downhill, fast. The only active part of the site is the forums, which is good, but really, there has been a lack of box art lately. The only people posting boxes are new members that usually have no idea what they're doing, and it's because we don't critique them enough, so they can't improve. But I've got an idea.*

I call it the "VGBA Apprentice Program". The ideas simple, if you are a member with lots of experience, I highly suggest that you take this Idea into consideration. So this is the main focus. Find a member with little experience that posts boxes that don't seem to improve, and ask them if they would like to be your apprentice. Then teach them the basics of making boxes, ask them what programs they use, tell them about art styles, etc. Then get them familiar with the site like rules and all that good stuff. I'm just throwing this out there, take it or leave it, I just think if each experienced member took on an apprentice, that this site could be active again, and that we would open a door for the next generation of artists on the site.

    Oh god, this again.

The site isn't going downhill at all, there's still an average of at least 10 boxes per day. Nothing is wrong, the site is just fine, and it has been plenty worse before.

It's not a bad idea. If someone wants to help out and give some advice to some of the newer members then they could use this thread to show their availability.

You said it yourself: 10 boxes a day. All by newer members, maybe 1 or 2 by a experienced member. Oh, and when was the last time you posted a box?

I said at least 10 boxes. But trust me, before you joined there was a time there would be only about 2 boxes every day. The site is actually looking rather good, in comparison to other times.

And I make a lot of boxes, trust me. I could show you more than 10 that I haven't even posted. I only want the better boxes on my portfolio, to show what I am capable of. I also want to take as much time as I can to make the boxes, just to make sure everything is fine. Not just spit them out as fast as I can, like you.

Both of you need to stop it. Take it to PMs if you must.

Yeah, what the hell guys? Why are there so many haters on this site? Last time this apprentice thing happened it worked VERY well. I remember being the big bro of a member and giving him specific advice and help. His box got Hall of Fame after that and he learned a lot of neat things about design. Stop being a hater, Ronthis.
