Yeah, it really does from the gameplay they showed. I just hope the story and controls can live up to it?
b.t.w. I'm getting a bit sick of the people that keep nagging about the fact that Spider-Man shoots his webs into the sky (they would just stick to clouds or something like that) and than swings along Manhattan. They would have wanted the mechanic to be more realistic and the webs should stick to the buildings ect. rather than the sky.
C'mon, man. it's a videogame! and a man with spider genetic powers obviously isn't realistic at all.WHY!?! WHY DOES HE HAVE TO SWING IN FREE AIR?! Activision team, IF you didn't know, you can't just shoot a "spider thread" into thin air, and use it to swing. If you were actually spiderman, you'd just fall like a stupid idiot and smash on the street. The only game where you got it right is Ultimate SpiderMan. Do we really have to see only 1 in like 10 Spiderman games that gets it right? Com'one dudes!
It's already a hugh step in the right direction imo. so I'm very pleased they returned to the free-roam rather than the linear levels.

Reggie on the status of Retro Studios:
"Probably not something we'll hear about any time soon? Or..."Fils-Aime: Rich, if I disclosed what Retro is doing, I would have the president of Retro literally calling me right now saying, "Reggie, what are you doing?" We love that people are interested. We love surprising people. I remember getting the questions before we announced Donkey Kong Country Returns. And I loved unveiling that. So... Rest assured, the team is hard at work. But I'm not gonna tell you what they're working on.
Fils-Aime: Um... Likely not.
Pikmin 3 and SMBU will not have online multiplayer.
There's a guy by the name of ShockingAlberto who works in the gaming industry on NeoGAF who has confirmed that Retro has a playable build of the game they're working on, and that it was in "showable condition". I know this sounds shady, but he has been proven to be right before, and the Mods on NeoGAF seem to trust him so take it as you will.
I knew about Pikmin, but NSMBU I thought for sure would be a shoo-in. Dang it Nintendo.
I definitely agree. It seems this E3 was dedicated solely to Wii U's launch lineup, which isn't a bad strategy, but as a consumer I'd like to know what's ahead in the future which Nintendo failed to deliver. Hopefully they have another Fall Conference that gives us more of a glimpse into future Wii U games.
Just going to drop that here
Please don't tell me there are people that actually use the term "Xbro".
