Well, another year has passed for the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Feel free to discuss, post reviews, top games, as well as your biggest surprises and disappointments in this thread.
If judged solely by the three major conferences, this year's expo was pretty terrible. But then, I believe E3 isn't the same show we once knew, what most gamers expect and want it to be. The industry has changed, and presentations from the likes of Microsoft and Nintendo, not just limited to this year either, reflect that.
You know i actually don't think this year was bad.
I think it's more of a case of the industry changing while we gamers aren't, than the industry completely sucking. I found Microsoft's conference interesting, especially project Glass. Problem with that though was that it's completely platform exclusive; what could have been a revolutionary and useful feature can only be found on xbox in an attempt to gain extra revenue. Smart, but such a selfish move.
Sony was... lol. Aight I can't make excuses for that. Nintendo was just trying to prove that the Wii U can be "HARDCOER", which they probably succeeded in but we just don't want to recognize. That's one company that can never please us to be honest, we said we wanted hardcore and less mario + wii fit, but when we got that we said they're being copycats.
Who is saying Nintendo are "copycats"? That's actually a pretty absurd accusation, with little sense or basis. The fact of the matter is that Nintendo had nothing to show. At least, not in terms of what the "core" audience was expecting.
Of course, these complaints are likely moot in relation to E3, as I too mentioned that the industry is changing and we gamers should adjust our expectations of events like this accordingly. I'm sure Nintendo will have more to show in the months leading up to the Wii U's release in November/December.

Beyond all the Kinekt, Sports and Usher. Microsoft took it for me. Halo 4, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 6 and South Park.
But Ubisoft showing off Rayman was awesome
Am I the only one reminded of Metroid Prime when watching the presentation of Halo 4?
Also, what plagued E3 were the constant more of the same sequels and the awful reboots always trying to create an origin story or "redefine the series". At this point, "redefine the series" is a synonym for completely ignore all games before this one and ruin the premise of the game. With that said, Tomb Raider looks and sounds awful, they butchered it, and I'm not even a big fan of Tomb Raider at all.
Sequels and reboots are most common because of brand recognition, unfortunately. New IPs, while almost always preferable to people like us, are risky endeavors to partake. It's one of the main reasons Watch Dogs is one of the games I'm most interested in.
Tomb Raider looks okay, but it's very clearly building off the popularity of generic, cover-based shooters, which is a real shame. Splinter Cell continues to do the same, and the Blacklist demo looked terrible.
