Post Phantasy Star Universe: Complete *WIP*

Ok so here is another WIP from me
I decided to try my hand a t doing an honest original boxart for Phantasy Star Universe, but this time I would do it as a complete Collection.

Here is the work I've done so far http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/20...nd-d4xcw5n.png

And please if you've got anything to tell me about this box I'm ALL ears, I know I've got a lot to improve upon on this project, and I could use all the help that I can.

For this I took the time and instead of just using a generic wallpaper for the base on which I would build the case (Not like I didn't look though), I decided to make a wallpaper myself. Granted it's not the best or most original thing in the world, but I liked it a lot better than any of the other Official Wallpapers I found for PSU. http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...nd-d4xb2hl.png

What I know I could work on:
    - The Spine is transparent because I wanted to link the front and back; I can either completely fill it in or completely take it out, and then change the font color accordingly.
    - The back seems to work but it also looks a bit too busy, I think it's because I threw in that render of the GUARDIANS Station. It took forever to do, so I thought I'd just put it in there for good measure, but now I'm not too sure.
    - I need to complete the Front's Title, but I can't seem to copy the font type of the Title. I don't want to just type it out, it needs to look and feel right. Any suggestions/help/tips on this would be VERY Appreciated.
-The cover image: I know that it seems a bit awkward and that's because I had to render it out of it's original wallpaper, I also had to incorporate the beam weapons straight from scans of the Official Artbook. I know that I can do better on this, and any help or suggestions on how to do so would again be greatly appreciated.

What you can do to the spine is to use some sort of pattern, make it transparent and blend it to the spine. I think it's better than this white transparent vertical rectangle.

The back is good, the problem is the screenshots. I don't like that because looks like some image pollution over there.

Try to make the render from the front part of the box with less quantity of red, make it more blue-ish to fit with the blue of the wallpaper.

Alright thanks, I'll see to getting making my screenshots better I think I'll go with a more PSU look like the original cases did.
I'll look into making some sort of patter to blend into the spine, and take away the transparent backing.
But for the Render on the cover, I'll see to making it bluer, but that's been kind of hard for me, do you have any suggestions? I've already gone through hue/saturation, Curve, and Color Balance.

    Default A Quick Update.

    http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...nd-d4xcw5n.png

Alright here's what I've done so far:
I've taken away the screencaps for now
I've reduced the size of the font for the synopsizes as wll as moved them accordingly
I've tried to make the cover render "blue-er" but hinestly I think that I'm failing a bit hard on this.

In your quick update, the render is all right, not completely blue, but it's now better than your first post. =)

    Arrow A Small Update

    http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/20...nd-d4xcw5n.png

Alright since apparently Photoshop decided not to save what I had done last time, I had to re do everything, although this time around I think I did a little better on the cover image.

I also added some hexagons to the back, this is where I was thinking about putting the screenshots for the games
I attempted to make the spine more pleasing, it's still really simplistic, but better than a "white translucent rectangle" lol.

I'm planning on making my own logo for this aswell, and although the PSU logo is awesome, I feel that for this I'll try to make one along the style of PSO. Y'know a ring with three planets and then the logo either going through it or on top of the design altogether. Atleast this way I wont have to try and copy the style of the PSU logo, which honestly for me seems like an impossibility, at least with my current font selection.

    Cool WIP Update

    http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...nd-d4xcw5n.png

With this most recent update I decided to make my own logo for my PSU:Complete Boxart, and as you might tell it's heavily based on PSO's logo. I decided that trying to recreate the font used in the original PSU's logo would be an increasingly difficult endeavor, almost impossible for me at my current level. I hope that the logo isn't horrible, I think it cane out rather nicely! XD

On the cover I retried making it "blue-er", and honestly I think that it came out a lot better this time than my previous attempts. I also tried to add some dramatic flare to the cover, similar to Star Wars clashing Lightsabers, I think that it might be a little over the top; but it does serve it's purpose well.

I still need to place the screenshots onto the back, but other than that, I think I'm close to being done!

    -----
    [EDIT]
Btw if anyone thinks that there is still something wrong or something that could still be worked on to make this boxart better, please feel free to tell me. I'm here looking for feedback, and I know that there are a lot of great artists on this site with wisdom to share.

Couldn't you place screenshots in those hexagons? I thought that was where you were going to put them originally.

    Default Update (Screenshots added)

    http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...nd-d4xcw5n.png

Like it says only real update is screenshots added to the back, I was stuck on what images to use for screenshots since this would cover two games, and I had only left myself with 4 spaces to fill, but I think overall I picked some decent images to use.

    Default Another Quick Update

    http://www.deviantart.com/download/2...nd-d4xcw5n.png

Nothing spectacular, but I had been thinking about how bright the lighting of the Guardians Station was throughout the process of making this case, and it just kind of stuck out like a sore thumb. So, I decided to try and shade it up a bit, again it's not the best thing ever, but it does get the point across; and I also moved it slightly to the left revealing a little more of the Character creation and cinematic screenshots.

    ----
    [EDIT]
Btw i think I'm going to tone down the shading, it looks a bit too drastic to look/flow normally

    [EDIT #2]
Done with the shading, I think it looks a lot better now; although I'd like to hear some feedback to see if I'm on the right track or if there is anything I missed or messed up along the way.

    Exclamation [UPDATE] Final + Presentation

    http://www.deviantart.com/download/297893579/phantasy_star_universe_complete___vgboxart_com_by_ demi_feind-d4xcw5n.png

Alright so, I've redone the bottom legal text, and put everything into a presentation.
I think it looks pretty awesome, and possibly ready for posting on site, what do you guys think?

    [EDIT]
There was a small area on the bottom that still had some gradient, I just removed it

The dimensions for that look really off, it should be something close to this.

You're right I'm an idiot I did the same thing on my Galerians box, I forgot to delete the messed up template that I used before, and accidentally used it on this one! DX

    Default Fixed dimensions (hopefully)

    http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/f/20...nd-d4xcw5n.png

I tweaked my template and relaid the box into it, I think I did it right this time, thanks again Throavium!
I honestly would've missed that if you hadn't pointed it out to me, and I would've looked like a complete novice.

You should remove that white stroke in the DVD template, it looks ugly.

I also think you should increase the text from the back because it leaves a great part of unused space. Try doing it while making the text flow with it, don't making it go off the back's space.
