If he wants to go, he wants to go. Holy shit. Either way he'll be back in a week. 2 weeks if he's trying to make a point.
By the way, to contribute to this thread, SP YOU SUCK I HATE YOU. <3333

NIHIL EST ULTRA EUM
I feel like this site is being moderated to heavily for what it is. If it was a huge, booming website it would make sense. But there's only like 20 active members.
From what I recall, several people have left because of a lack of moderation. I'm not sure if many people remember or not, but when LK and Drakxxx moderated these forums there were several more active users, but it was also heavily moderated. For example, Drakxxx banned people for saying the word 'retarded'. While we aren't going to be that strict, there are a few things that we will be enforcing, we are going to moderate the forums.
That could be one effect, but I find that most of the time they lighten the mood and make the arguing members realize their childishness. And once again, I don't see why every post needs to add to the discussion. I know this isn't that big of a deal, but if a little thing like this is going to be prohibited, many other little things in the future will not be allowed either. It's all slowly chipping away at the freedom we have here. I think moderators are great for problems that will cause the community to go wildly out of control (getting rid of bots and banning spammers are great) ... but for small things like this? Why? Moderation in MODERATION. I think that keeping the community from falling apart should be the main job.
And two wrongs don't make a right. I feel like banning popcorn GIFs is as ridiculous as banning the word "retarded."

I am really pissed at the mods right now.
The first thing is banning the popcorn gifs. No where in the rules does it say that posting gifs are a bannable offense. Just because the mods don't like them doesn't mean they should be banned. They are fun and yes, pointless, but I think they can add humour to a bit of pointless humor to the thread and I enjoy it. Another thing is the deleting of posts. I posted a comment about Koopa, sarcastically bitching about him and it was removed. Why? It wasn't like what koopa did was any better or worse then what I said but his post stayed. Also some friendly banter between me and Afifan were deleted because it was slightly racist but it wasn't offensive. IT WAS A JOKE. I even made fun of MY OWN ETHNICITY. Yet still, deleted. The fuck guys? I feel like we were better with no mods at all...

^Listen to this post.
Sometimes I wonder if you all remember what this site was like when it was last moderated. There is no insulting, racism, or heated arguments allowed. If you aren't contributing to a thread then why post? Or why post a silly meme image or try to provoke arguments? It's unnecessary, off topic, and derails topics. This isn't just a place where you can do whatever the hell you want and expect nothing to happen. Maybe you should think about the entire reason why you joined this site in the first place, and that was to post, create, and critique artwork and cover design.
Once again, logical fallacy. Just because it was a certain way when it was last moderated, it doesn't make it the right way. Who says the past was any better? And even if it WAS, what does that have to do with the present? If people are complaining, there may very well be something wrong.
Let's look at the word "moderator." It most definitely is not synonymous with "destroyer of all that seems bad." I understand if there is an EXCESS of insulting, racism, and heated arguments, but if it's just a couple of people messing around (with little or no hate in the air), what's the problem? It is NEVER wise to blindly follow or blindly enforce the rules. Rather, each individual occurrence should be looked at and these questions should be asked: Is this really causing a problem? Will this make a significant negative impact? Though it may be very slightly problematic, could banning this offense possibly limit the freedom or take away from overall enjoyment? Being a moderator means you have to create a better environment ... but judging from all the complaints, it's becoming a worse environment (and we, as the community, have the right to make that claim).
Hm ... is having fun unnecessary? I really don't understand this whole "unnecessary" thing that you keep mentioning. A forum is place to converse. In our day-to-day lives when we converse, does every little thing we say HAVE to be necessary or have meaning? Now don't get me wrong ... I'm not saying all this just so we can get popcorn gifs back. Their ban doesn't mean much to me, but the FACT that they were banned means something. Forbidding the use of something so insignificant like popcorn gifs just shows that there's a problem in the moderation and a lack of understanding of what it means to moderate.
First of all, like super-mega-hyper-sonic said, not everyone is here to post, create, and critique box art. Why would we even have the "Game Discussion" and "Off-Topic" boards? When there is something that makes you feel like it's going to immediately or eventually lead to the downfall of VGBoxart forums, do something about it.
I'm sorry for constantly getting into this, but it's bothering me. I wouldn't type so much if it was just VGBoxart, but I've seen similar problems occur with many random people who gain some kind of authority and power, so this is for all of that.
Also, were popcorn gifs really abused that much?

Thank you for all of your input and suggestions. Me and SP will have a conversation soon to discuss all of your points and we will come back with a resolution.
Reed seems to have disappeared again, the moment he made Stevencho and SP24 moderators. And for what it's worth, I agree with everything Yoshi stated.
You know, I've got to agree with Madoublex on this one, he made some pretty good points, and expressed his opinion in a civilized manor.
