Just letting everyone know, if I see one more popcorn/meme GIF on this forum for the sole use of adding off topic, unproductive and unnecessary posts to a thread, the user will receive an infraction/warning and a ban for further offenses.

I don't understand what's wrong in having fun The memes convey points. Would you rather the popcorn GIFs be replaced with the words "I'm enjoying how this argument / conversation is playing out and I find it very entertaining"? Come onnn. Unless they are spammed, they aren't THAT bad.

What really IS necessary? And so what if something is unnecessary? We don't have some kind of bandwidth problem. I mean, look at the "Association Game" thread. Each post is one word, and there are tons of them. I can understand if a post is problematic, but there are countless posts that can be considered unnecessary. And even if they are, what's the big deal?

Why do you have to be so mean?

It's to a point. Threads are meant as a discussion on a specific topic, not as a chat room after a couple pages. We will always let you know if behavior has crossed the line before taking action.

It is clearly up to us as to what we think should go in such threads. The majority of people aren't bothered by the use of the GIFs, so why should we stop posting them? It is a way of communicating. The only thing unnecessary is the ridiculous rules that you are enforcing.

Thank you for your input. We will consider it. However, we run into the problem where it is up to us to enforce the rules set by the administrator of this forum. And we are doing that to the best extent possible. Which means keeping threads on topic and reducing needless spam.
