Personally, I don't play games to collect every feather, every flag, every INSERT COLLECTIBLE HERE, I don't enjoy doing that. If I were to 100% something, it would have to be interesting content, like side missions or something.
I used to get all the "collectables" in every game before achievements were even invented. Nowadays I just get a little extra bonus when I do.
I will only do collectables if they tell me when they are near by on the mini map or whatever. Like inFamous 2 did.
I like the idea of trophies. It gives you something to do once you've completed a game.
It's not like they're hurting anyone...
It's a vicious to me, I try to unlock every single achievement in any games. I have 41 Xbox 360 games (counting retail and arcade games) and so far I have 18 completed games.
No Platinums yet, but I have a fair few complete 360 Titles, including both Left 4 Dead's, Viva Pinata, South Park LGTD, Oblivion, and some others that slip my memory.
With "complete" you mean "I have completed the game, from the beginning until the credits screen"? For me, the term "I complete that game" makes me thing you got all the trophies/achievements.
And HEY!!!! Do you have South Park Tenorman's Revenge? Well I have both South Park XBLAs, we should play sometime.
When you platinum a game on PS3 you should get some kind of special avatar for your PSN profile.
