    Default Wind Waker [MAXX]

Ok, so I was screwing around in photoshop rather than attempting my homework, and I came up with this:

What do you guys think? I'm definitely going for minimal on this one.

Ehh, the realistic water doesn't go with the cartoon renders. The streaks also seem out of place.

I'd go for a more cartoon-ish looking water, because those renders don't go with that background.

It's a little bright towards the top right hand side of the box, but it has potential.

I sorta like it but, as said before, the styles are clashing. Maybe try submerging the boat a little in water and removing the cartoon splashes around it.

I agree, I may have made the sunlight a bit too strong, I'll try reducing it a bit.

Not a bad idea, I'll try it right away.

Personally I love the mix of surrealism and realism. Yeah obviously the styles clash but it doesn't look BAD by any means.

looks pretty sweet so far, I'm personally not a huge fan of the clashing art styles but if you can make it work then thats awesome and go for it. The biggest problem I have right now is the amount of glow coming from...everywhere..

I'm in an airport, and bored, so I figured I could continue working on this. Made some lighting tweaks, and started conceptualizing the back. Any ideas? Because I really don't like what I have now. Think of it as a placeholder.

The front is a bit overexposed, but otherwise it seems like a promising direction.

Although I would go back to your first one and only have one Link on the box. The fiction is stronger that way.

Maybe add an island or something to the back instead of the whale and 2nd Link.

I like it but I would make the water look just a little bit more "cartoony". Doesn't have to be much. You can still have the clash of realism and surrealism. But it might simply aesthetically blend better.

Wind Waker's style isn't very difficult to replicate, and as such I'd recommend trying to create the Great Sea in it's original artistic form. Using a real photograph in it's place doesn't blend well with the characters.

Ok, I will definitely attempt to remake the ocean in the more traditional wind waker style. I'll also begin reworking the back. As for the over exposure, it was intended, but I suppose it's still a bit to strong.

Yeah, the first thing I thought of when I saw this box was mint Tic Tacs too.

Ok, I have a ton of WIPs right now and I really need to start finishing these up. I tried (cartoonizing?) the ocean, and I'll work on the sky next. Is it starting to look... better?

Nice improvement by the way, what you going to do on the back?
