A new 3D Mario game is definitely needed, but I've also very much enjoyed my play of the 2D games. My favorite, which is my favorite game of all time, would have to be Super Mario World. To me, no other 2D title in the franchise has had the diversity of levels, superior map screen, and amount of things to actually do. There were several different worlds spanning a huge map, where all worlds were connected in an intriguing way. That, and the Star levels added even more replay value to it. If the next Mario game is to be 2D, which is what it looks like will happen, I would love for it to be like Super Mario World. Really everything about that game was just perfect to me.

I couldn't agree more. NSMB Wii is great when you are playing with friends or family, but it just lacks when you play it in single player mode. Also, yes, Super Mario Sunshine 2 needs to be made, it's not my favorite Mario game, but it's my favorite 3D Mario.

I really liked Super Mario Sunshine, if for no reason other than it was basically Super Mario 64 but with Shines instead of Stars.

I dislike Sunshine out of all of the other Marios.

I couldn't even finish NSMB on the Wii. Everything about it just screams "cash-grab", and even Galaxy 2 showed more creative effort. Super Mario World and SMB3 walk all over it.

Well, nearly every Mario game since 2006 has been a cash-grab. (Except maybe Galaxy.)

The original Mario Galaxy definitely wasn't a cash grab. It was new and interesting (at least for Mario's world), and the spherical worlds idea was really cool and implemented well. NSMBW is probably one of the worst examples of Nintendo's occasional laziness when it comes to their top intellectual property. Its flaws are even more apparent when compared to Retro Studios' massively better game, Donkey Kong Country Returns.

That reminds me, I want another one of those soon.

The most visible Mario cash grabs are Mario Party 8, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. (Atleast for the Wii.)

The Wii U will definitely have a 3D Mario game, it's almost inevitable, but probably not for a year or so after launch. And I happened to enjoy NSMBW, at least in co-op. I have nearly every coin in all the levels.

I would too. Retro is working on a secret project, so maybe we'll head more about it at E3 this June.

Co-op tends to make everything more enjoyable, I think. For example, I doubt I'd be nearly as interested in Mass Effect 3's multiplayer if it were competitive, or the Halo games if the campaign didn't allow cooperative play throughout.

Good co-op can save pretty bad games, like Army of Two and Kane and Lynch.

I would like to see a "Super Mario 64" remixed on the Wii U.
Not unlike the DS version's enhancements, more levels and such, plus Waluigi and Bowser jr. (something like that)

    I would buy it.. :I

    1. Quit using my face
    2. Can't you just say "like" instead "Not unlike?"
    3. I much rather see Super Mario Sunshine remade, whether on 3DS or Wii U, just bring it back.

I just don't see the purpose of stuff like that. If anything, that website was good for business.

Well anyway, some news that I don't really care about.

I'd act surprised, but jokes about the predictability of Call of Duty are just as predictable as the games themselves at this point.

Meh, I certainly won't be picking up that game.

I'd rather play more substantial games, like:

    Super Mario Galaxy
    Super Mario 3D Land
    Animal Crossing
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (fuck yeah)
    Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, etc

    Am I a Nintendo Fanboy?
    Probably.

Also look at my Work in Progress
    Super Mario Galaxy SNES

Seeing how MW3 sales aren't measuring up to Black Ops, all we to do is wait to see if this game does even worse and we can finally kiss this overrated series goodbye.

And there are people out there who will call you out because your taste in games isn't compatible to theirs.

The taste in games, film, art, and music really can be comparable to the taste in food. You basically like what was fed to you, instead of actively searching for new tastes, you remain comfortable with what you have had. Somethings may fall under the demographic of children and coffee for some people; at first you may initially dislike the taste, but give it time, and you will grow to love it.

I especially love it when people state that today's music is dead, when they don't actively search for the right kind of music on teh innernets, instead they rely on what is heard in the mainstream media, and what they grew up with.

From what I've gathered in some of the game design meetings from different creative mindsets, Treyarch's development process is inferior to Infinity Ward's. I couldn't care less though.
