Wait, does the article actually suggest they will be Batman/Superman? I'm confused.

If I fasted on nothing but water and say and apple a day, would I lose weight, or would my body be all "fuck you" and shut down and hang on to all the fat it could?

Stevencho is right. Your body's metabolism (the rate of chemical reactions within your body that determine growth, repair, energy burning, storage etc.) has a lot to do with it.
Everyone has a difference caloric need but let's go with the average 2000-calorie diet. Eating less than half that (<1000 calories) makes your body think it's starving. As such, it slows down your metabolism to a crawl to make sure you live as long as possible. The main result of this slowed metabolism is a damning overall feeling of lethargy and a lack of energy due to your body's "recession mode". Minimal energy is spent and maximum energy is stored (as fat). The fat that is burned is taken from all over your body, not just excess fat storage areas (belly, arms, neck, back, etc.) but from places where fat is supposed to be and shouldn't be taken from like the face.
By far the best way to lose weight is to decrease calorie intake and increase energy output, depending on which would apply to you more. If you eat a healthy diet but sit around all day then get up and move a bit. If you move around a decent amount but have an unhealthy diet then change your diet. If it's both, then both.
The biggest step I took and the one which turned out to make the biggest difference to my weight was dropping sugar and replacing it with artificial sweetener. Ignore all of the bullshit scare-tactics, they're perfectly safe. Aspartame, Acesulfame Potassium, Saccharin (gross of you ask me) and Sucralose (Splenda.. my personal favourite). If you consume a 2-Litre bottle of regular soft-drink everyday then you're ingesting as much as 800 calories (40% of the average daily calorie intake). I found that I was addicted to sugar, and that after a couple of weeks of really wanting it and finding artificially-sweetened drinks unsatisfying I got over it, find them just as enjoyable as I did sugar-drinks before and have successfully made the switch to water, too.
I could give you a whole list of suggestions as to how to make your diet better to aid in weight loss, and I will if you want me to. A rough idea of your weekly diet would help me, too.

Not really, it cuts down heavily on the immature members while at the same time reduces the bot population to about .1%. In all my three years of lurking NeoGAF, I've only seen one bot.
Maybe I'm just on NeoGAF high right now, but what makes it special is that a lot of game developers and journalists have accounts on there. You've got people from Gametrailers, Naughty Dog, Nintendo, etc.
I just finished watching Season 1 of Community, and Jeff and Britta still don't get together. This is bullshit. I'm not watching this shit anymore.
