Here is Mub's Basic Guide to good deals:

• Steamworks platform has a daily deal, weekly offer and has some outrageous sales, especially holiday season. It also has some kickin' rad F2P games. They also have free weekends sometimes.
• Desura is a good hub with many great deals on indie games and pretty nice game mods.
• Humble Bundle is a good way to get indie games in bulk, it all goes to chairity but it's Pay what you want and their collections are pretty good.
• Feeling nostalgic? GoG has weekly deals on classic PC gaming goodness!
