    The Protagonist

Ratohnhaké:ton, also known as "Connor" is an American-Native Assassin. Born to an American father and a Native mother, he set out on a quest for justrice after his village was destroyed by colonists. After finding the Assassin Order, Connor joined their ranks and became a freedom fighter, righting injustices he saw whenever he could. In the midst of this the American Revolution unfolded; Connor will find himself allying with the leaders of the American revolutionaries, mainly George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee.

Connor's personality appeared thoughtful and intense, and the words he didn't speak were just as loud as the ones he did. His way of moving resembled a predator, always staying low to the ground and moving under enemy's attacks.

    -Gameinformer Magazine April 2012 Issue

    Other Details
-Game will be set during American Revolution
-Story will span over three decades

-New weapons include flintlock pistols and tomahawks
-Major upgrades have been added to the economy and building aspects of the game

-Hunting animals will be a feature when travelling and exploring The Frontier

    Nice thread.

The American Revolution, as well as a Native American lead, sounds like a change in setting and atmosphere that the series desperately needs. As much as I enjoyed Ezio's character arc, the time period was starting to wear thin. Has it been mentioned how long this has been in development? I'd hate to see AC3 suffer similarly to Revelations due to time constraints.

This has apparently been in development since the release of Assassin's Creed II, but that could have been on and off. I would imagine the studio would focus more attention on Brotherhood and Revelations, naturally during the past 2 years.

That's good news. So there's a chance the changes (aside from the obvious difference in setting) between Revelations and III will be more drastic than II and Brotherhood. As I mentioned in the conversation thread, if one thing should come of this sequel, it's the inclusion of more in-depth stealth mechanics. Hell, even something as simple as crouching would be a massive improvement over what passes as stealthy assassinations in previous games.

I only played the numbered titles, I skipped Brotherhood and Revelations. I'll play this one.

I have a feeling Assassin's Creed III will describe the events leading up to it, just like II, Brotherhood... and Revelations. But I'd still suggest reading up on them if you've no intention of playing them, since they are related to the overall plot of the series.

This rumor isn't a bad idea. I kinda like the idea of a revolutionary war setting.

Someone on FP found out the source. It seems Game informer fucked up.

Oh and it seems the protagonist is Native American.

This all but confirms the info posted above. His hood design looks pretty slick, I must say.

My Gameinformer page hasn't updated yet...seeing as how they never change the banner on their front page unless there's a new cover story, so I assume AC3 is the next cover?

From the Assassins Creed Facebook page. There's also the same image on the PC and 360 templates.

Awesome! This means it's official, right?! Obviously a placeholder but still awesome.

You've got to play them all. Don't just get AC3, the story is too convoluted to just start somewhere. You'll be lost.

    OP updated.

That boxart looks awesome, I could actually see it being official. Breaks from the traditional layout, but still contains the elements of blurred characters in the background while the protagonist gets the main focus. I like it.

I think I'll start with 2. It should be cheap enough 2nd hand on PC.

The first one is good too and can be found just as cheap or cheaper.

Wow, that cover looks awesome. I hope that Ubisoft have made some major changes to the next installment in the series, because I'm getting pretty tired of the AC formula.

Based on the new weapons alone, I'm hoping they strive to innovate more this time. I agree with Pleaides in the fact that major upgrades need to be made to the stealth mechanics...it shouldn't be as easy as walking up to someone and killing them. I'm hoping that some assassinations will take place on the battlefield as shown in the boxart, that'd be pretty sweet
