Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate | Name: Yami G | HR: 2+
Just finished watching the first 3 episodes of Gurren Lagann (first time watching). Pretty damn awesome, and it's very action-packed.
Alright I know I'm a late to the party, but I've got some good anime to suggest.
- Lodoss War (all of it) - A great Series I loved it!
- Toaru Majutsu no Index (1st & 2nd Seasons) I honestly can't wait for a Season 3 to come out, on a side note I haven't watched A Certain Scientific Railgun yet.
- World Destruction (Sands of Destruction Anime) Pretty good for a 13 episode anime.
- RahXephon (I have yet to watch all of the film, though it seems to just be a recap)
- "Tales of" Series (any of them, honestly they're pretty awesome either way. But FYI the Tales of Phantasia anime seems to go along a slightly skewed storyline in comparison to the game.)
- Tenchi Muyo/Tenchi Universe/Tenchi Muyo -Ryo Ohki/Tenchi Muyo GXP (honestly I didn't like "In Tokyo" all that much, but other than that this series is astounding)
- Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure (made by the same guy who made Tenchi, based in the same multi-verse [as stated by wikipedia]. And it's also really good.)
- Berserk (A great anime, but I was saddened when I couldn't get the whole story. I've been thinking of trying to read the manga online, but haven't gotten around to it.)
- Durarara!! (another great anime to come out in recent years, it took me a while to actually give this a chance, but I'm really glad I did!)
- Demon King Daimao /Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou (another great anime, although I watched it in Jap before the Eng dub came out, so it's still a little awkward for me to hear everything slightly altered.)
- Chrome Shelled Regios (A pretty Decent anime, animation was really good, although while watching it I got the sense that I was playing a game and watching it unfold. lol)
- Orphen ( 1st & 2nd Seasons) (A little slow to get into the main story, but after it finds it's bearings it's a well rounded anime, but a lot of the jokes [from the "troll/gnome/dwarf brothers] probably would've made more sense in Jap lol)
- Project Arms (I really liked this anime it's pretty long for an older series about 50+ episodes spanning two seasons, it was dubbed by "Ocean Dub" the guy who originally did DBZ, and in fact one of the main guys is the old Vegeta. The story also "slightly" revolves around the Alice in Wonderland story/novel.)
- Shadow Skill (A little cheesy and good, but a bit oldschool, but I doubt that would stop anyone from watching it [like I did XD], plus the fighting and story in this are pretty awesome. Still have yet to watch the OVA/movie though)
- FLCL (No anime list would be complete without it! XD)
- Zone of the Enders + Idolo OVA (Honestly these two together were pretty Epic! Though that's probably because I like ZOE a lot lol. But seriously they both tie in together perfectly , and a lot of the main anime was good. Accept the beginning dolores was calling herself an "Orbital Flame", but with her using that sincere and childlike voice it didn't seem like it was something done to hurt any fan of the series. Plus they fix her error later and calls herself and "Orbital Frame".)
- Blue Gender (honestly I was almost discouraged from watching this due to reviews about it being a Star Ship troopers rip-off. Don't be fooled! This anime is any thing but Star ship troopers, only in the very beginning is it anything similar, the story is great and I really dug the mech designs! XD)
I've got a shit-ton more anime sitting in my entertainment center that I could keep posting about, but I'm going to leave this here for now, maybe I'll continue in another post lol! XD

I finished watching the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumaya.
MIND BLOWN
Yeah, Disappearance is pretty fantastic. I'm disappointed that the European BD release was cancelled.
I started Bakemonogatari, but had to put it on-hold because I wasn't understanding, half of the episodes. I'll wait until I learn japanes, to try it again. Mind you, I did not understand because of the fansub.
So I started Black Rock Shooter, and so far it's really good. On ep 5, almost finishing. I also updated my MyAnimeList: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Elementy
Every anime that is on-hold I've already downloaded, and will see them.
And I was reading trough some boards, and they said that you have to have an understanding of the .hack games in order to understand the anime. Is it true?

Code Geass anyone?
I just finished that again...
In my honest opinion, as a guy who owns all of it (excluding .hack//Link), playing the games helps you to understand the anime, but overall it doesn't hurt to watch them without playing them in the first place.
Like if you are going to watch .hack//G.U. Trilogy; don't expect a direct translation between game and movie, it's completely different. Not to say it's bad, it's pretty damned good, but as a person who played all of G.U. before hand it kinda irked me.
Although for .hack//SIGN & .hack//Legend of Twilight you can enjoy it without playing the games. Although LoT makes a few references towards the first 4 games, since their avatars are rehashes of the main characters of the games and a few characters from the games make a couple of appearances, but overall they aren't completely important to the story imho they're just small easter eggs.
Oh btw there's actually an extra episode to .hack//SIGN that wasn't aired (on toonami) or put into the "complete" Anime Legends box, if I'm not mistaken it's called "UNION", it's a bonus episode that has a few links and spoilers to the game. I only found out about it because of my girlfriend at the time found and bought a couple of sealed copies of the individual releases (the 3rd and final discs), and I noticed that there was an extra episode not on my complete box.
You can find it online but more often than not it will be in Japanese.
For .hack//Roots you don't have to have any prior knowledge of the G.U. series, since it's infact a prequel to it, and if you plan on playing the games it does give some insight as to the some major plot points. I'm not sure how much or how little they give away, but all in all it was an alright series, and a welcomed addition to my .hack collection.
I haven't watched .hack//Quantum yet, I just got the BD/DVD combo the other week, but I recently had some water damage to my apartment (neighbors water heater leaked and water spread through portions of my walls and ceiling).
TL;DR
Overall if you've played the games you can spot a lot of references and easter eggs, but if you haven't they make it so that you can still enjoy it without prior knowledge. (they tend to try and explain what they can within the anime.) Just don't expect after watching that you'll come out knowing everything lol
