Congrats to Eggboy.
I'd be curious just to see the numbers on both voting sessions when you have to time.
stevencho, did you have a design in the final group?
Congrats, it's a really good logo.
This doesn't fit with the site at all.
Eggboy's logo won on its own merits with those who chose to vote. From a design perspective, however, the logo is a mess. I'm not saying it isn't pretty; it just isn't a solid design. The font is put to good use, but the styles and colors used don't match. The use of one color on one part of the text and a different color on another part of the text is fine as long as the same style is used for both. The logo uses not only 3 various color schemes, each scheme uses a differing style than the others. This is a blatant design no-no.
Yeah I really don't like it either. Looks like something from one of those glitter text sites. Sorry Eggy.
Mine was #21. The premise was simple. The graphic that the V sits in is an indication that VGBA is a site where its members tend to think outside the box. The line drawn over the boxart is a "not" symbol, to indicate that we do other art as well as boxart. The text is clean and bold, the 2-dimensional elements were used so that the design scales well without modification. It also lends itself to abbreviating the logo to VGBA without loss of brand identity. The yin-yang supposition balances itself graphically between the two chosen colors. The chosen colors were derived from the site's color codes.
I voted for #21, but this one is still pretty sweet. It was tough for me to decide, though, because this was more artistic while #21 fit better with the site.
