I'm sure you aren't the only person to make that mistake.

Okay, except for numbers 8 and 9, I have all of the entries overlaid on top the site header in a PSD file for comparison, fitting into the area where the logo should be (and scaled as such). Would you guys be interested in seeing these or do you think it might have a negative effect on the contest?

I'd like to see them. It will probably help us choose one better.

I'm on the edge on this, because it might give, as you stated, a negative effect not only on the contest but to the users who are being told outright that their design wouldn't work, and I'm trying to keep this positive and fun. IF anyone wants to see these comparisons, it might be better to do it through Private Messaging.

I get what you are saying, but honestly, I think it provides a better relationship with the overall site than simply seeing the logo on its own. Some of the ones I thought would make great logos turned out to less than stellar when pressed onto the site header. I think it would be good decision to show these off this way as an addition to the stand-alone mode. You get the best of both worlds, so to speak.

I'm not sure why you are concerned with a person handling negative going critiques on their work. I'd say that nobody has come right out and said anything nasty about any of the entries, quite the contrary. Feedback has been quite tame and on point. I don't see how an alternate presentation will change that dynamic.

    I'll wait for consensus.

I've thought about it, and I will put up the picture you have in the OP.

If there was a slimmer version I would definitely go with #21, it's a great design and is practical. I think 24 and 2 go well on the header as well, and it's tough to decide between the two. PM will be sent with votes soon.

Even if Reed doesn't adopt one of these entries, I still think this is a fun venture. It's pretty cool seeing what ideas come out of these contests.

Indeed. I think more competitions like this, maybe not even site or box related, would be very interesting and would also help design skills.

I don't think that 14~16 and 23~28 should have a BG on the previews that Crotale made.

And I think that there's no need for the first previews of 14~16(The small, square ones), since the red bg it's just a bg, not part of the logo itself.

I wasn't sure if the red or white on those were in fact just a background or what, since the actual requirement is 500x500 px. Besides, I am not going to remove the background from 23-27, 28 since it appears to be part of the design to some extent (at least it looks that way on 24, 26, 28).

If the artists want to PM me with the entries sans background, I'd be happy to roll them in that way. I'll keep everything confidential.

I'm voting on how it looks on the header because thats how think would be the best way to see its most potential as the logo of the site and how it looks with the sites layouts.

    22, 21, & 19.

Honestly, the current logo looks better then any of the logos here but if I had to chose one then I would pick 21.

Note: I may not have the thread by tomorrow due to how busy I am, but the selections must be turned in by tonight at Midnight nonetheless.
