So are we allowed to discuss games we're working on now, or what?

And for the record, Game Maker 8 should be on there. It's a good place to start learning the basic structure of codes.

    http://www.codecademy.com

It'll help you gain an understanding of how most languages work, even though it is in javascript.
The icon they use for achievements in that site is the same reed put for Hall of Fame awards in here.
    Pretty nice site, actually.

I'm extremely interested in the creative side of game design. I used to play around with custom sprites and skins. To this day I'll come up with game ideas and sometimes sketch out stages, come up with the general concepts.

I'd love to single handedly do everything except music and coding. (I'd love to do everything, but I just don't know music or coding.) with a game.

I'm quite good with storylines and characters (as a massive role-playing nerd) as long as I don't have to come up with a name for anything.

I had FL Studio for some pretty great music creation, but when I wiped my HDD (On accident) I lost it. Any good alternatives?

What a coincidence, the only thing I'd like to do is coding.

    Same with me.

I would love if I had good drawing skills. I often get a lot of ideas, but I'm incapable of coming up with a good concept art.

I'm basically the jack of all trades, master of none, though I'm looking to further expand my programming skills. I'm pretty much well in tune with sound design and have a vast knowledge of how most of the jobs work in the gaming industry, including animation, modeling, some software development kits, etc.

Back then when I played around with some of the drag and drop software, mostly Klik and Play and Multimedia Fusion 2, I found myself to be pretty decent in creative level design, and some puzzle designs as well.

I can't draw, though. I used to frequently draw in the art classes back in elementary school, but I stuck with mostly science, math, and a useless webpage design course in high school. I also took graphic design in high school, which I hoped would be an introduction to game development since it also has digital multimedia.

I'm basically at a loss of what I actually want to do in the field, but I'm not stopping to ponder about it.

I'm basically the same when it comes to programming. I know alot of many languages, but I really can't use any practically.

I've always enjoyed the story aspect of games. Just something about making the game how you want it to be has always pleased me. I wouldn't mind doing some writing for a game. I also would like to try voice acting, even if it's only for a small role. As far as experience goes, I sort of now the basics of C#, I'm learning Cryengine 3 and I'm good with the Source Engine, (well, as far as map making goes.) I'm REALLY good with textures, and so so with sprites. I have a good ear for music, but no software to make it with. I guess in a way, I'm a jack of all trades too.

I use Acoustica Mixcraft 5 to make my music. It's basically GarageBand for windows, although Mixcraft supports plugins for more EQ options as well as having more options to work with in general.

It's cheaper than most music software, I think around $90 for the full version.

My modding thread died too... sadly.

Also I'm working on a project with someone else from this site. He's doing most of the work, but I still feel special.

I forgot to mention that I'm working with a team in Arizona. We're making a horror puzzle game called Delirium. The project pitch got approved by the people running the GDC this year, as well as the UAT of Arizona, we're getting free all-access passes for the conference, and free plane tickets to San Fransisco as well as them covering hotel expenses.

I may consider removing the Metroid Subzero preview video on my youtube channel, since the project died well into the last semester. I don't want to disappoint many fans, but there are some that I just want to punch in the face, or laugh at, since there were a small number that sent me death threat emails. Hurr durr.

I think it's fairly obvious who you're talking about.
    Hint: It's me.

We might post progress here once we get a decent amount done.

I've been looking for work to do soundtracks for games. I can only do dark ambient but the projects I was involved in sunk pretty quick.

Just keep looking. Audio is one of the last things needed for a game, but it's one of the most important.
