Default The NEW Official Resident Evil 6 Thread!

Sweet God I can't wait. This is the greatest news since.... ah who cares. RESIDENT FUCKING EVIL 6!!!!

I've watched the trailer a few times and so far I deduce the following spoilers:
    Zombies
    Horror
    Action
    Multiple Stories and play styles
Leon, Chris, Ashley and possibly Steve
    Zombies
    0:58 a 28 Days Later reference
    Zombies
    and Zombies
    .

20th November 2012. Cannot fucking wait. Now if you excuse me. I have to get some clean underwear.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At this time, Leon S. Kennedy - as the President's close personal friend having saved his daughter, Ashley - is due to be at the President's side, when the venue suffers from a bioterrorist attack, transforming the US leader beyond recognition, as seen in the announcement trailer. Leon is forced to face the President and make a difficult decision.

Meanwhile, Chris Redfield, who is still with the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) finds himself in China, where there's also the looming threat of a bioterrorist attack, sparking panic on the streets. Chris and Leon must unite to face the global threat together, as the world shares the common fear that there's 'no hope left'. Hence Capcom's viral NoHopeLeft.com campaign to tease the game.

Ashley also appears in the trailer with a new character, who appears to have something special about his blood. Capcom has yet to reveal exactly who this shaven headed fella is, and how he fits into the narrative.

    More:
Following the announcement of Resident Evil 6 at last night's Resident Evil anniversary party, executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayasi took the stage to share some additional details on the game.

As reported by Andriasang, Kobayashi said that Capcom are aiming to make the game the "ultimate horror entertainment." To achieve this, the team have been working with two main goals; to maintain the level of fear throughout and to overwhelming the player with the scale of the game, its story and the feeling of being mixed up in it all.

Kobayashi also revealed that Resi 6 will feature the return of zombies, following the series' “infected” focus in recent years. They'll be joined by other enemies, including the fearsome “Javo,” the green-eyed monster featured in the trailer. Kobayashi said that Javo will have a “greater impact” than any of the zombies in the game.

As well as Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield, Kobayashi also confirmed that you can play as another male character. The exec producer didn't mention the character's name, but described him as "the man who's told to save the world." You can see him in the trailer too. He's the shaven-headed dude.

The story begins in America, where Kennedy witnesses a bioterrorist attack that transforms the President into a zombie. He then embarks on a journey to Tall Oaks with a character called Helena Harper, a member of the President's security detail. Again, as seen in the trailer, she's the girl that says, “it's all my fault,” following the attack on the President.

Redfield, meanwhile, is hard at work investigating a bioterrorism case in China. While the two character's stories will unfold simultaneously, said Kobayashi, the action in China will remain focused on one particular city.

Kobayashi also mentioned that Resi 6 employs the largest staff count in the history of the series. Though a core team of around 160 people are working on the game, if you include overseas staff and contributors that figure rises to over 600.

Rounding up the presentation, the executive producer promised more revelations to come.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More details on Resident Evil 6 emerged over the weekend, shedding a little light on what we can expect from Capcom's latest iteration of the venerable horror series.

First comes the news that the game will support two-player offline co-op, up to six players for online co-op and up to eight players for another online multiplayer mode. The details, unconfirmed by Capcom but almost certainly on the money, come from the game's Xbox.com listing.

Beyond that we've got some tasty little titbits via the game's official Twitter page. Engaging with fan interest, the account has said that the game has been in development for 2 years and features an "overhauled" control scheme, featuring "a number of new elements."

It also revealed that the zombies are "unlike any in past Resident Evil games" and that "There will certainly be a survival horror element to the game, mixed in with classic Resident Evil moments."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional details on Resident Evil 6 have come to light, revealing some interesting story info, as well as a 2013 setting and confirmation that the game will allow you to run and shoot at the same time.

Here’s the new stuff: Before the events of the game, Redfield went through a personal trauma, but decided to team up with the BSAA again anyway, to help combat the ongoing crisis. His Chinese adventures take place in a fictional town called Lanshiang.

Furthermore, the zombie President dude is Adam Benford, the chap who - while working as a Secret Service agent - hired Leon Kennedy following the Raccoon City incident.

Joining Redfield and Kennedy is a mysterious third protagonist. He's a mercenary engaged in a bloody conflict in Eastern Europe where reports confirm that B.O.W.s are increasingly being used. He's more interested in making money than saving the world.

Field Operations Support agent Ingrid Hunningan also returns, following her last appearance in Resi 4.

The enemies sound a bit more badass than before too. Your average zombie will now run and jump at you and can also use weapons. The “J’avo,” meanwhile, apparently displays increased intelligence and is “incredibly aggressive”. It can also regenerate and mutate injured body parts.

To help cope with these newly-skilled enemies, you will be able to move while shooting. You can also slide, roll, take cover and execute a greater range of melee attacks than in previous entires to the series. That’s a more action-orientated direction confirmed then.

Capcom did something right!? No way! Chris, Leon, Zombies, the best of both worlds. I would still have liked more classic horror style, but this still looks damn good.

At least they're showing some in-game graphics and not only some cinematic clips saying 'completly in-game footage' so it looks promising.

b.t.w. Anybody knows RE:ORC will be any good?

Ah I see I have told you all once again, called it yesterday. What better way to celebrate the 15th anniversary than to announce a new major game in the franchise?

Anyway, the game looks pretty great and I can't wait to see more about it, but it looks like they are going for more of an action game than a horror game (Like RE5). I guess we will know more after we see more of the game.

Also, did anyone notice the "PC version to be released at a later date" disclaimer? Total bullshit if you ask me, but I guess that's what all devs are doing now. It's also using the MT Framework engine, which comes at no surprise knowing Capcom.

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

Game looks pretty good. It would appear the series has almost completely departed from true survival horror though, and ventured into full-blown action territory.

I think Leon's story will be horror based and Chris' more action. And not sure about Mr. 3.
Anyway, RE5 and 1(If you were Jill) were the only RE's with no character swapping so I don't see why it won't happen here

    That was the plan

    Also:
Resident Evil 6 will also receive pre-order bonuses at GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon. According to Capcom, each retailer "will each get an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game."
More bullshit already, along with the fact that the PC version will see a later release date. Not a good way to start the RE6 advertising campaign.

I think the bald guy is Alex Wesker, when he turns his head after injecting the serum you can see the same facial structure as Albert. Plus the way he moves (That karate/judo push thing) suggests that he's Alex Wesker and the serum he injects himself with is the same one Albert injected himself with in RE5.

Just putting that out there as the "bald guy" gameplay is supposed to be pure fast paced melee.
    Signatures are lame.
Hence why I don't have one.
    Because I'm awesome.

Lots of people talk about Alex Wesker. But that seems a bit TOO obvious. And if this is 1 year before RE5 that means after Jill's 'death', and just before that Spencer said Albert was the last one alive. Unless Alex was kept in suspension somewhere, I kinda really hope it is Steve. The re-doing of his 'death' in Darkside kinda makes me think that way

I'm not rich enough to buy the same game twice. You live somewhere in Europe, right? In Europe things are cheap, while in Brazil is another story...
