Thanks a lot, Mariolee! Sorry, I didn't answer your other question earlier! I found the base image, and I made it a very low opacity. Then I created text clipping-mask layers on top of it. Every line is a new layer with a custom size. All of the quotes on the images are from the game itself or from media surrounding the game. Once I finished all the layers, I undid the clipping mask and deleted the low opacity layer. Then I just edited them a bit more to make them look better. Each one takes anywhere from 30min-1.5hours, depending on how difficult it is to find quotes and how complex the pattern one. The ones that look cooler usually took more time. For example, the Assassin's Creed and Metroid ones took the most time.

    Thanks again!

    Not saying he hasn't.

It's just.. not that impressive, it's easy and has been done before.

On the scale of originality, it's admittedly not high up there. I am simply impressed by the initiative and the execution of the idea.

But that's it, these are VERY easy to do.

Whether something is difficult to make or not is irrelevant, I think. If you can make something look good and not have to put much effort forth, than your just a talented artist. Something may be easy for you and not easy for some one with less talent. All that matters is how good the finished product looks.

Completely agree. I remember when I was part of a GFX forum a long time ago where members were basically making forum sigs with photoshop. I remember one member who would make incredible sig in less than 2min and it looked better than someone else design that took 10 times longer to create.

Focus on the end product and the way it looks and not the process of making it.

This is a really unnecessary and unwelcome sort of comment. They look good and people like them. You need to stop being a negative nancy. Seriously. No one appreciates it. Just don't comment at all unless you have something constructive or positive to say.

It's his opinion, he should be allowed to say it.

No, that sort of negativity isn't welcome and it's far from the first time. End of story.

    I couldn't disagree more.

Not everyone's opinion is going to be constant cheery compliments like you want, Reed.

I agree. It's like a teacher once asked us to peer assess work but that we could only mention the positives. It's only an opinion.

Posters look great, I love how you transformed the Zelda one into a box.

And I think Reed was saying that we don't always have to be positive, but when not giving compliments we should be trying our best to give constructive criticism.
    bless you with this DOPE

That's such an obviously untrue and obtuse statement. Come on, you're smarter than that. Don't be blinded by white knighting.

Constructive criticism has always been the rule. Simply jumping into a thread saying something like "this is not impressive" is just mean and in no way constructive. Now no more thread derailing. Back to topic.

    Example of constructive criticism:

These posters look pretty good, and while you may have put a good amount of time into each one, they seem to be lacking a bit of detail. If you increased the complexity of the images somehow, than people might not be so quick to write them off as effortless.

I think including the titles takes away some of the magic. The images are very clear, not to mention the text explaining the goings on in each game. Having the title at the bottom of each poster feels a bit silly.

Reed is saying that will all need to be positive in our comments. Positive just doesn't mean praise. It could be pointing out a flaw in someone's work but showing them how they could improve it. The point is to encourage people to continue to get better with their work. Not discourage them with comments like "this sucks".

Back to thread. I love this type of artwork. Might not be too difficult to make but it is nice to look at.

Thank you everyone for your input. I still want to continue this style for a few more games mentioned previously, but it might be difficult since I have been pretty busy lately.

I understand that some people could make these faster. I like to take my time and make them look as good as possible, though. That includes the quotes that I choose. For most games, I try to select quotes that convey the most emotion. But thank you everyone for giving your thoughts, once again. I do appreciate all comments and criticisms.

As for the posters, I see the lack of detail that people keep mentioning. That is why, on my new box (Ocarina of Time), I put more detail into the typography part of it, which I think enhanced the image A LOT! But at the same time, I like the simplicity of the posters. The posters are just the bulk of the work, so I can enhance any of these at any time to suit a particular style.

Ideally, I want to learn how to make those popular "Kinetic Typography" videos that you see on commercials and whatnot. I really like that style of video. This idea just sort of blossomed out of that. At this time, though, I haven't felt really strongly as to what scene/words I could make a video to.

    Thanks again for your help!

I am not allowed to be honest? I didn't cross any lines. I was being blunt and simple with my thoughts. When I don't like something, or I don't find it impressive, I say it when asked to. And reed dear, I didn't have any intention of putting him down for it. He asked for input, I gave it to him.

Back on topic. I do not like these at all. These are personally not my thing, so you can call that a bias, these, infact, look effortless to me, there is zero complexity in these images that give them a blandness and they are, to be frank, generic. Mostly the design seems boring. You need to give it some pop.
