    Default VGBA Logo Redesign Competition

    Rules:
    1. Design a new logo to celebrate VGBA's new redesign.
    2. Resolution must be at least 500 x 500, 150 dpi.
    3. That's it.

    How This Will Work
You will submit a logo or many logos to my PM inbox. After that I will post a new thread that will show ALL of the submitted logos. There will then be a voting competition for the Top 5 logos. Once we pick the top 5 logos over a span of approximately 5 days, I will count up all of the votes and then create a new thread showing the Top 5. From there, we will hold one more vote for which is the best one. The authors of the logos will remain anonymous until the winner is chosen. The designers of the logos are encouraged to remain anonymous, but will not be forced to.

    Important Dates:
    1/14/2012 - THE COMPETITION BEGINS
1/29/2012 - THE COMPETITION ENDS AND IT MUST BE TURNED IN BY MIDNIGHT.
    1/30/2012 - THE TOP 5 VOTES BEGIN
    2/05/2012 - THE TOP 5 VOTES END
    2/06/2012 - THE TOP 2 VOTES BEGIN
2/12/2012 - THE WINNER IS CHOSEN

    Disclaimer:
Note that the winner of the VGBA logo competition will not be the official one unless designated as such by Reed. Also, I will update this OP with a better layout hopefully in the near future.

    1. Image scaling. This is imperative for a logo to scale properly, for it may be used as a thumbnail image or tiny icon all the way to a large scale poster. As I am not sure what all media types the logo may end up on , you still want to make sure your entry is scalable without loss of integrity.

    2. A logo is about branding and identity, not about being the flashiest thing since sliced neon lighting. Get the overall style down before you worry about the colors.

    3. Nothing happens overnight. You know all those killer logos like the Nike swish or the FedEx logo? I'd bet those took some serious time and effort to create. Nothing is ever as easy or as simple as it seems.
Remember that from now until January 29th at Midnight you can submit as many as you want, provided they fit the requirements.

    Happy Logo Redesigning!

So, are we just submitting one that looks good, or whatever, or should we be thinking about the fact that it all has to fit in that little red box?

I would be thinking about a style and shape that fits in the area, to be safe. The page construction obviously shows a border on the leading edge of that box.

Basically. But again, note that the winner of this competition may or may not be the official logo unless Reed so chooses it. So be thinking about it just in case.

Can I submit more than one logo?

I have a few ideas, and I can't decide which one to use. =/

I would suggest that the voting thread not contain names of the designers, and people refrain from saying "This one is mine!"
