The generic camouflage to the right of Snake is really unnecessary and throws the whole box off.

I agree, Sp24. The high contrast, low color effect on the left side reminds me of Peace Walker's cover, but that stock camo image is very out of place. In fact, fading to color at all seems like a bad decision.

i was thinking that instead of camo, a nice light nature shot of a forrest would be fitting. not full on color, but just enough.
