‘The Dark Knight Rises’ deleted scenes and concept art explain Bane’s backstory

    Batman-News
We got to see a little bit of Bane’s backstory in The Dark Knight Rises, but according to costume designer Lindy Hemming, there was even more footage shot that never made it into the movie. Hemming, who still hasn’t seen the final cut of The Dark Knight Rises, talked about some of the deleted scenes involving Bane’s backstory in a recent interview with GQ:

The thing that you should have seen during that sequence is [Bane] being injured in his youth. So one of the fundamental things about his costume is that he has this scar from the back injury. Even if he hasn’t got the bulletproof vest on, he still has to wear the waist belt and the braces. In that scene in the prison, where he’s learning to fight the same way Batman learned to fight, he’s wearing an early version of his waist belt. It’s showing support, but it’s not the finished one he eventually wears. He’s also wearing an early version of his gas mask, all glued together … If you look at the film, unless they’ve cut it—and I’m sure they haven’t—there’s a whole early section for Tom Hardy where he’s fighting and being taunted by people. He’s got chains on him, and he’s standing on a wooden thing while people are attacking him. And in that scene, he’s wearing a much more ragged, primitive version of the mask.

When told that the scene didn’t make it into the final cut, Hemming added:

Well that’s an awful shame, but I suppose you have to cut things. I won’t elaborate on it too much, because it isn’t in the film, but there was another section that showed you why he had the mask and where it came from.

Concept artist Sebastian Lochmann shared some early designs of Bane’s back scarring but the scars ended up being much less severe in actual movie (unlike Bruce Wayne’s punishment, which was more serve).
Apparently, to a few YouTube/forums comments, 70 mm IMAX projections can only handle 2:45 of film which might explain this and other plot holes in the movie. Hopefully this scene and others are included in the Blu-Ray.

    Here's my two cents.

Catwomen was unnecessary. (I don't know, how Anne Hathaway plays her characters make me want to punch them in the face)
Bane's voice was kinda funny. (It's not funny as Batman's but, no offence. He seemed to be talking happy when he was fighting Batman)
The recycling of Batman Begins plot was really effortless. (I mean, really? They couldn't come up with a better story to conclude the epic trilogy?)
The twist with who was the complete brains of the operation was just terrible (Seriously? You create a twist to a person who you could less give a shit about, plus there was so little character development for this person.)

Well, you may ask. What did I enjoy about this movie?
Well I enjoyed the climax, the action was good. Some of the twists were okay.

But overall, a lot of the things that were in The Dark Knight were removed from this film.

    3/5

As much as i'm hoping, Christopher Nolan said he doesn't like doing extended cuts. We'll be lucky if the deleted scenes are included on the Blu-ray at all. I heard the cut was somewhere between 3 and 4 hours, going by most of Nolan's scripts i'd say the rough cut was about a 180 to 200 minutes. I would've loved to have seen that cut.

The fact that they supposedly can't fit that much on an IMAX is the only reason I think it's possible we might get an extended cut..

The 4 hour thing was a joke, it was confirmed on Twitter by journalists who saw it that it was taken too literally.

Just saw it for the 2nd time. :3 Imax and all.

There are only 3 things I would change about the movie.

    1. The Amount of Batman: Alot of people have said this, and to an extent I disagree, that it's an ensemble piece, it's not all about Batman, but there is still plenty of Bruce Wayne. But still.. Imagine if you saw this as a kid? It's 30 minutes till Batman even shows up. To me, it's great, but if I was 7 again, I'd be a little bored by then.
A short scene in the beginning, when Gordon is giving his speech, but a longer speech, Gordon would be shown, but it would also show Batman, escaping the police, or possibly revisit something else from the film, using Gordon as a voice over. (A longer version of the end of TDK basically)
Also, in the beginning of the 3rd act, when Bruce comes to Lucious and is all; "Get me back in the game" It's time for the 3rd act, the stakes are high, your at the edge of your seat, holy shit, It's Morphing Time! That's the moment for a new, badass, prototype-whatever, suit. "Been keeping this for a rainy day" type thing.
Give the people behind Batman Forever credit, that was pretty epic when he got to put on the new suit.
You can even leave out the idea for an opening scene, if you had that, I would be ecstatically happy.

    2. John Blake: [spoilzoarz>> Watching it for a second time, I think I actually would have been happier if they called him Richard Grayson. Maybe fans would have been disappointed when he didn't become Robin in the movie, but I say Fuck No. We see what he goes on to do. So it would have been a perfect fit, IMO. And watching this movie again, all I could see was Dick/Robin/Nightwing. JGL is just too damn perfect for that role. /spoilzoarz

    3. The Joker: I miss Heath so much. He really was one of my favorite actors already, so watching this movie, all I could think was how much it missed him. It's sad, really. I think he would have had a bigger role than just in the courtroom, like many people think, I think he would have showed up at least a few times, I can only imagine how great it would have been to have him still there.

I loved Catwoman, btw. I thought she was great..

Can't wait to see if we get a nice trilogy box set.. I promise I'll buy that shit.

I like them well enough, but agree they shouldn't have been used in official marketing. Just doesn't fit the movie.

I really like the typography aspect of the first two posters other than this they really seem to look a tad too plain for my liking :/
