Help or advice on how to lower the image size of my box

I've been working on this box for the better part of 5 days and I really want to put it up on the main site, but I need to lower it to 7.5 Mb.

Any help or advice on how to reduce its' image size further, I've already brought it down from 12.8MB to 9.57MB, but I don't know what else to crop or edit to reduce the image size.

Would it help at all if I told you the resolution and how many layers there are in total?
Or would some other information help?

Alright well I have 38 layers (but one isn't being used.)
the image is as of right now at 4300 X 1931
The image size is now at an even 9MB.

Anything else ?

Do you know what the DPI is? shown right HERE:

Just go to image/image size and tell us what the resolution is.

Resolution = 72 pixels/inch

Yes. Well you definitely should not lower that anymore... Ok, make sure the three boxes are checked at the bottom. Then just start making the document size smaller. It's a pain, but I can't think of anything else.

Alright, thanks for all of your help on this, I'll just keep moving thing around and cropping the edges until it's 7.5 MB.

Why don't you just save the picture out as a .jpg instead of a .png? o_O
That should put the size down to about 4.46 megs without any need of cropping or resizing.

Wouldn't that reduce image quality though, this box is going into a competition and I'll need it to look the best it can.

the quality of a .png is a lot better than a .jpg
