I've read on a couple of websites that the game might be set in Washington, due to the "V" looking like similar to that on US money. I don't know where they get that from as there's clearly an Indian on the money that SP posted, and not George Washington, which is why they were saying they thought that (although doesn't Lincoln adorn a $5 note in the US?)

    Oh. Ah well.

Either way, the main thing is the trailer is out next week, and i simply can't wait that long. Anyone know how to travel through time?

Vice City easily had the best storyline but San Andreas was the best overall. You could pretty much go anywhere. The one mission where you went to Liberty City when it was snowing was cool.

Speculation time: Main protagonist will be a Yakuza member charged with bringing a counterfeiting operation to Vice City. So far, they haven't appeared in the GTAIV era and the counterfeiting seems to fit in with the money logo.

    That's my guess.

It'll be cool if GTA do something where YOU chose how your character looks, his ethnicity and/or sex (male/female) and have the same RPG elements San Andreas had. Like the bodybuilding, for example or just being fat after eating too much.

The plot, setting and idea of San Andreas was breathtakingly believable. GTA IV let it down in a lot of ways, even though it had a far superior gameplay engine the overall style of how GTA IV was, let the game down.

San Andreas 2 is my call, plus the V could stand for Venturas.
    Signatures are lame.
Hence why I don't have one.
    Because I'm awesome.

I actually would not want to choose or build my own character. GTA games always had amazing protagonist and R* would always put a good amount of time and detail developing characters.
Also, if you want to create your own being in a sandbox game, go play Saints Row...

Not a fan of Saints Row. But I get your point, still, it's bound to be a good game no matter what R* decide. As long as this time you can buy property, maybe buy business' like you could in SA and it has a good story I'm all for it.

I still have to contend that Vice City was easily the best overall. San Andreas was good, no doubt, but the storyline wasn't nearly as good, I hated the whole gangster deal and the map was filled with dead space. I did like the upgrades in terms of what could be done in game, but Vice City was such a perfect replication of 80s Miami that I have to hope that this next game will be set in Vice City. I'd also be okay with Vegas, and the V looking like it came off of currency could refer to the fact that Vegas is all about gambling, but I won't be too happy with LA. I'm particularly glad we have pretty much ruled out an international location though.

As for when the game will be released, I cannot see them announcing it now to release it almost two years from now, it just doesn't make sense. If they WERE to release it in 2013 after the next gen consoles come out, I don't think they would have even mentioned it before E3 next year. I think this will be a swan song of sorts for this console generation. Lest we forget than GTA IV was released a little over two years after this generation of consoles hit the shelves and that its release trailer was put out about 7 months before the game was SUPPOSED to be released. I think that Rockstar will shoot for a mid 2012 release on this one. Probably October like they did with GTA IV although with GTA IV, they wound up missing that date by 6 months.

There is no Las Vegas in the GTA universe. Only Las Venturas.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was for next gen consoles. There are TONS of rumors that Microsoft will have a successor to the 360 released in holiday 2013, with an announcement earlier that year at E3. It's not like the GTA V announcement being now has anything to do with when it releases, LA Noire was announced in mid 2005....

That's true, but I'm looking at when release trailers are put out, and although for LA Noire Rockstar put out the release trailer 3 and a half years before the game was released, with GTA IV, it was only 7 months before the game was slated for release and about 13 months before actual release. You could be entirely right though considering that even if Rockstar sets a late 2012 release, it's likely it'll be pushed back. They'll shoot for holiday season like everyone does. I don't think Sony has said they're releasing their next gen console until 2014 though. Microsoft will clearly push theirs out as quickly as possible in typical Microsoft fashion, but I doubt Sony will.

Well, 4 and a half years, but I'm sure this game is much bigger than LA Noire and will not be released until at least holiday of next year. That's just my guess anyway. I thought this article was pretty interesting: http://games.ign.com/articles/121/1210669p1.html

What he's saying is Las Venturas did not accurately depict Las Vegas, like LA Noire did with LA. I don't remember R* ever saying that it was indeed supposed to be their version of Vegas.
