Go to the End in creative mode, and go as far down as you can. Then, hit F1 and F8, and then F5 twice. After that, just move your mouse around.

Just make a portal to the End using endereyes or whatever. I was already near a stronghold so I just did it that way.

Doesn't work that way. You cannot spawn a enderportal block outside the stronghold.

The main issue I could see argued is the graphics. Yes I like minecraft, yes I love the old school visual style. But since games have to be compared to the other pc games of the time, I have to expect it to get no more than a 2.0. I know that sounds harsh but it's only fair. Saying that something like this deserves more than that feels simply unfair to other pc games. Compare this to BF3 or Skyrim and it's simply not fair to say some indy group who spent less time on graphics than design deserve more than a 2.0, while the big guys who deliver amazing visuals would be put close to the likes of this? Either way I could see it argued about endlessly.

No, java is hell to develop games for. It can barley support GLSL and has limited openGL support so next gen graphics are off the table.
