WHAT IS THEMES OF THE MONTH?
Themes of the Month is a bimonthly competition where boxartists can post boxes according to the theme at that time. For example, if the theme is "Sidekicks", then one would post a "Tails the Fox" box art. At the end of the two weeks of each theme, a first and second place winner will be decided, and awards will be given.
1. In order for a box to be eligible, it must be arguably in line with the theme at the time it was posted. That means, you can't post a Mario box if the theme of the two weeks is "Halo".
2. You must post the box you want to enter during the time the theme contest begins and closes. For example, if the theme is "Halo" for the week of January 1st - January 15th, then you cannot post a box on January 16th and enter it into the competition.
3. Every box must have the tag "totm#". The # will be the number contest it is. For example, since this is the first competition we've had, the tag for the first half of the month and second half will be "totm01" and "totm02" respectively.
You will sport a sig add-on that will link to your box!
You will earn a rep point!
Your box may be posted on GoNintendo!
CROSSOVERS – Mario & Sonic, Link & Soul Calibur, Sora and Metroid, Smash Bros. vs. Capcom, etc. The possibilities are endless. Box has to feature some sort of crossover between two different series. First and Second Place Winners to be announced August 1-5.
JULY 16 - 31
VGBOXART – I realize I'm opening Pandora's box here: anything related to VGBoxart. Basically, Dear Reed boxes, King of Boxartists '12, etc. Try not to be offensive. First and Second Place Winners to be announced August 1-5.
METROID – Nintendo isn't releasing any new games for Metroid, which should be celebrating its 25th anniversary but was snubbed out by Zelda. That sucks. So in the spirit of loving Metroid, I've decided to make this Metroid themed. First and Second Place Winners to be announced August 15-20.
SIMPLE AND CLEAN – Create a boxart that has is minimalistic and overall has an almost “Apple”-like sheen to it: glossy and sophisticated. First and Second Place winners to be announced June 16-21.
E3 BONANZA – Pretty much create any boxart of any game featured at E3 2011. I don’t see how you can mess this up honestly. First and Second Place winners to be announced July 1-4.
This will serve as the central thread! Happy boxarting!
