    Default What Grinds Your Gears?

What are the little things that just make you mad?

    I'll name off a few:

    1. When someone has a superiority complex and flaunts it. For example, the guy who always one ups you:

You: Hey, I just got the CD to my new favorite band! I think they're pretty good, and haven't heard about them before.

Them: OOOOOH, them? Yeah, I have ALL of their 10 CDs, have a T-shirt autographed by them, and have all of their music videos in both English and Spanish!

You: Erm, well, I got a 60 out of 70 on my test today. It's probably the best I've ever done!

Them : Oh, well I got a 65 out of 70, but I didn't even study or do the extra credit, so I probably would've gotten way more if I-

    You *thinking*: Shutupshutupshutupshutup.

    2. When you're arguing with someone, and for some stupid reason they get a smug smile that makes somehow makes it appear as if they've won the argument or have the upper hand.

    1) David Cameron; He said in the beginning that he would help us if voted in, we took his word for it, we put 'Conservative' on our voting form and for a few weeks everything was fine....Then out of the blue he calls a budget, we thought 'Okay, this will be alright, shouldn't be much of an increase....' Then it changed, he increased taxes, v.a.t. and tuition fees by almost 25%, allowed more foreigners into the country to live, work and take our jobs. Screwed the young people over, made the rich richer and the poor poorer.

    2) Town centres; I hate going up to my local game store when a new game comes out, or my local supermarket to buy supplies. Mainly because of all the damn people, especially on a Thursday when the market is open and the town is filled with old people. And during summer holdays when the kids are around, they all get in your way, scream and shout. It gets to me for some reason, as I really don't like crowds.

    3) Queues; This one for me is beyond annoying, I take something off the shelf, walk up to the cashier and what do I find? Either someone counting pennies or using a credit card. Counting pennies means you have to wait until they've checked everything and credit cards, well, they're stupid, someone opens their wallet and there's a bunch of £20 pound notes sticking out, what do they do? They use their credit card to buy a mars bar, it gets to me a lot and I often run into that particular annoyance.

    Pretty much it really.
    Signatures are lame.
Hence why I don't have one.
    Because I'm awesome.

-Being blamed for something you didn't do and/or taking the punishment

-People who are completely one sided with politics no matter how much something doesn't make sense (Liberals and Conservatives)

-People who force religion on you and/or try to make you feel wrong about your belief.

I'm not saying you do. But I get frustrated with people who think because I am technically an Evangelist, I am trying to force my religion down their throat. When really I am just trying to share ideas and beliefs I have found that have completely changed my life. And I think these ideas could have a tremendous effect on others as well, as long as they are at least given the opportunity to hear them.

There is a difference between Evangelism (relaying information about a particular set of beliefs to others who do not hold those beliefs) and Proselytism (the act of attempting to convert people to another opinion and, particularly, another religion). Unfortunately, we are all lumped into the same group.

    Religion.

In the end both sides will think the other is an idiot, so why bother arguing and just believe what you want to?

That's assuming all discussion related to religion will lead to arguing. Which has rarely been the case for me. And I'd say it's safe to say I talk about religion a lot more than the majority of people. I actually find it quite enlightening.

Almost all of them do, especially on the internet.

    "Normal" People

Never liked interacting with them, and probably never will. Working at my job only makes it worse. I tend to find something to do or like that many people would find weird. Being a geek of science fiction for one, basically alienates myself from the rest of the employees who work at my job, and I LOVE it. Yet I also like talking to people about science fiction, and quite frankly there aren't many out there.

I don't like it when people try to be like someone else, it's also a very huge pet peeve of myself. When you're inspired by someone, you take that inspiration to shape up your individual standard. You do not try to emulate it. Examples of this are bands that try to rip off or sound like someone else (Jimi Hendrix wannabes, some tribute bands, etc.)

Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age once said this in an interview: "One of the best things in life is to be understood, and the way to be understood is to have your own style."

It's one reason why I don't know the names of many guitarists in some bands; they don't have their own distinctive sound.

It is also the reason why I don't know the names of some artists around the community or on deviantART: they don't have their own distinctive artstyle.

Yes, of course discussion will eventually lead to arguing, but that's only because discussion about anything that isn't monitored by a third party turns into an argument.

I try to stay the fuck away from religious or political arguments, I find both pointless.

1 - When someone thinks they are better at something because the other person hasn't tried it.
Like if I showed some of the designs here to a group of people who can't use Photoshop etc. and they think it's bad, and I say it isn't because they can't do better.

2 - Mispelling things and adding pointless things to seem cool.
I'm not really the master of cool (Nor do I want to be) but it really annoys me when someone spells works like 'Cool' as 'KWL' or something and then use 'LOL' and smiley faces in excess.

3 - People stopping you from trying something.
It's my choice, what's it to them? If I want to fall down the stairs to prove that you can survive I will (Crazy example, but true.)

When people say "legit" in real life.

When it seems like every person is good friends with someone, but you can't see how that's possible.

People who don't get 'it' after I've explained multiple times:
So if you want to know how to do something and I show you once and you don't get it that's cool but when I've shown you 10 times that's when I start thinking WHY DON'T YOU GET IT YET?!?!?!?!

Posh People who think they are above you in every single way

People who come to England and start getting angry because things offend them:
I heard once that a Foreigner wanted everyone to take their Christmas decorations down because it offended them. If they don't like why don't they live somewhere else?!
